Carefree 95663 Small Fountain Protector, 4-Ounce

I actually measured the amount of water in our fountain to be sure I was using the recommended dosage. After starting with a clean basin within a short time cloudy, green water began to form. I continued to use the product for 3 weeks, treating every 7 days with no improvement. For me this was a complete waste as it hasn't made any difference in the color, clarity or condition of the water. It should be noted that our fountain is not pumping 24/7 so yes, we have standing water, but that is precisely why I ordered this product as standing water is more likely to form algae than moving.I would not re-order.

I have a small fountain and a larger one that takes 2 1/2 gallons of water, but it is the small one that is the biggest nuisance to clean. You need to disassemble the entire fountain and use a screwdriver to get at the pump. That was the reason for me searching to find a water fountain protector. The moment the bottle arrived, I read the instructions and went over to my small (and showing bubbles) fountain and added a couple of drops. The bubbles disappeared within minutes and the water looked nice and clear. I also put the recommended amount in the larger fountain. Last week, little bubbles appeared in the small fountain (I need to add distilled water every other day), so I added a couple of drops and bubbles vanished. I don't have any fountain drinking pets. My little dog Rosie and my parakeets, Morticia & Gomez prefer spring water, so I can't comment on that claim for the treatment. I just know it works beautifully and saves me a lot of time and effort.

Upon opening, the fluid was light brown (like tea) and smelled like plastic. I have heard this can happen if the product is old. My last bottle lasted at least 6 months and was clear and odorless. I can't return the item because the 30 day return period closed a week ago. I only opened it a week ago and then tried to contact seller etc (turned out to be impossible) to ask if this was how product was supposed to be). If you replace my bottle Ill update this to say you were responsive and Ill increase star rating.

I think this actually makes algae not protects a fountain from it. Never had algae before putting this in my fountain water and within days had green sludge everywhere. I’m now draining my fountain to clean it and putting this product in the garbage.

Used in my Water fountain followed directions then added more 3 days later still getting nasty water , have to buy something more stronger or real.

Been using this for a year in my indoor fountain that receives plenty of sunlight. If I use the recommended amount for my fountain volume, I get little to know algae growth.

Thought I was getting a good deal, oops I paid $9.73 for only 4 ounces. Others sellers selling 8OZ for $11.10

So far it is working like a charm in my outdoor fountain. You only use a small amount so even though you think it’s a small bottle, it goes a long way. One cap full for 5 gallons.
