Canine and Feline Behavior for Veterinary Technicians and Nurses

Bought this book for my daughter who is a certified vet technician. It was recommended by instructor at a veterinary conference she was attending. It was received promptly and she was very happy to receive it for Christmas.

We've always been adopted by animals. Currently that list counts; 1 ancient Rag-doll, 3 (teenage I suppose) NFC's, 2 NFC Kitts and a Pointer (Trig) who thinks he's a cat - Stockholm Syndrome in his case. This book although designed primarily for those working in the field (Technicians and Veterinary Nurses) is also a useful source of information for pet-owners as well. Part of the book actually discusses how you engage pet owners better. I found it useful because of the way it takes you through areas like; behaviour and development, behaviour modification and communication. The writing style is very accessible and enabled me to make sense of what was going on with our own little brood and gave pointers as to things we could try in our day to day management of them to make their and our life a bit less stressful. A very practical resource for veterinary nurses and for the owned as well.

Excellent book. I’m an animal communicator and found this book helpful in understanding dog and cat behaviour plus being able to give suggestions on how to help pet owners with their pets.

Overall this is a very good book. This book is well written, full of references (for further reading if you are interested) and covers a broad range of feline and canine subjects. Anyone who works with cats or dogs would find something of interest in this book. It manages to be detailed and yet easy to read and understand. Im a layman and i havent ha a problem reading it. it covers every aspect of the subject matter from how a cat or dog communicates to training styles and behavioural problems you may encounter. There is also a bonus at the back of the book, a long list of appendices full of downloadable/printable useful forms such as care plans, behaviour diarys, history taking forms and exercises to help with selected issues cant recommend the book highly enough to anyone with an interest in the subject matter
