Is this safe to use on windshields with no streaks?

I have only used these as dusters but don't see why they can't be used on windshields. They are a great product and I love the fact they are machine washable.

Should these be washed in a lingerie bag to prevent them from falling apart?

I washed them by hand..it still fell apart
