Wow! lol - works great!
Okay, I admit that I am grow from seed deficient...being kind to myself.I purchased these and the seeds I wanted to grow, hoping for yet not expecting much to happen. Well - what is happening, is crazy! This is not a joke, nor an exaggeration...the red morning glory seeds literally sprouted and grew an inch and a half, just 3 days after I planted them in this thing! The Mexican sunflower sprouts grew half an inch in 3 days, as well! Freaked me out - I woke up, and there they were! I had no idea that could even happen. Also - my marigold seeds are almost 3 inches after 5 days, the jalapenos and serrano pepper seeds are just now sprouting (5 days). At 5 days, I am already having to transplant the morning glory and sunflower babies, because they are too tall to have the lid not smash them. I measured the tallest one, and it's 4 1/2 inches tall. Maybe I just got freakishly good seeds???The only Con this product is that the lid needs to be taped on, or at least both of mine did. They absolutely do not fit properly. Yeah, the tray is a bit thin-ish and wobbly, if you aren't careful to pick it up gently and slide your hand under it to keep it stable. But be gentle, use common sense and tape the sides of the lid, because it is SO worth the price and results. :)

Great
I got this as a starting kit for my tomato seeds. They are great, all you have to do it's soak them and put the seeds inside. In four days I had the seeds germinating. And I still have some of the soil things or pellets left over for other seeds. Great buy to start the germination of your seeds. I highly recommend purchasing this.

Works
Works wellPROS: good base tray with groves to spread water. Pellets adsorbs and holds water well, bonus an additive for plant health, packing sleeve can be used to hold top on. Cost per pellet is cheaper with the kit than ordering individual pellets.CONS: top does not fit well because it's do flimsy it distorts. Tray could be used multiple times but cr cheaper to buy new trsy kit then replacement pellets.RECOMMEND I am buying again so I recommend it for starting seeds I have the curse of death for plants but this kit seems to balance it out for at least the start of the plants life.

Perfect for beginners!
Perfect for an inexperienced gardener! Has simple directions!Container is sturdy even with all peat pellets rehydrated. Lid does not fit well but used tape to secure amd was fineAll the seeds I planted were germinating within 10 days. Seeds I planted said usual time is 2 to 3 weeks. Very satisfied. Was so easy I am planted more seeds instead of buying those 4/6 packs of plants!

The lids do not fit.
Lids don’t fit. Like not even close to fitting. I had to tape my lids down to hold the humidity inside.

Worth the Price
This is my first garden in years. I purchased several different trays for indoor planting but only purchased one set of four Jiffy trays because of the price. Jiffy was higher priced than the others. To my amazement, every seed from the Jiffy trays came up and are thriving better than the seeds that I planted in the other trays. The pellets are bigger, and retain water/moisture better. Also, the trays are easier to keep clean around the edges because the trays aren’t bulky or cumbersome. My personal opinion is that these trays are worth the extra price for me because of the success in germination and my vegetables plants are thriving right off the bat. These trays also come with little planting tools and sample vitamins for the soil.

Extraordinary Decline in Quality
This is the first season I have had issues with using Ferry-Morse’s seed-starting kit; I really should have read the latest reviews as this is obviously a major manufacturing defect that needs to be dealt with. While the peat pellets are still top notch - hence the one-star - this season’s greenhouse is substantially substandard. The lid - which was always flimsy but is now on another level of poor build-quality - will not stay sealed on the tray. There will always be a gaping hole on one side of the lids once you get it on the tray. The only solution I have found is to wet a few paper towels and place them in the opening to attempt at sealing the gap. I have since transferred all pellets to another manufacturer’s greenhouse since the Jiffy ones are all unusable.Avoid these kits like the plague if you desire successful germination and just purchase the peat pellets alone as they are exceptional.
