Works well enough that my employer is now purchasing them for data recoveries in our Asset Depot. With more laptops using m.2 SATA drives, this thing is becoming less optional and more necessity. - Expected transfer rates. - No heat issues. - The PCB slides into the enclosure along extruded rails and is a good fit. Minimal noise from movement. - For frequent access you can leave one end open and use a rubber band to keep the PCB in place. It's not the most elegant solution, but when you put a new drive in 5+ times a day, it's certainly more convenient... also safer than leaving the PCB sitting outside of the case.

This only works on SATA drives, will not work on PCIe.

M.2 SATA SSD USB 3.1 enclosure DOA. Would not even power up. Couldn't wait for replacement so bought another one locally for a lot more money. New enclosure works great.

As others have mentioned the side plates (that you unscrew) don't really line up well to the chassis. Not only that but once the plates are in place... good luck getting them off. I have the screws out and for the life of me cannot access my ssd now. I'm trying everything except banging it on my desk in hopes to not damage it! Aside from that it worked great. Fast transfer speeds to SSD and all. Wish the case was better engineered/machined.

Works great. I bought 2 for my M.2 SSDs from my old laptop to use as external drives on my new laptop. The only complaint would be one of the screws would not tighten all the way and kept falling out. I had to use some electrical tape to secure it, doesn't affect the use of the device, though, and I don't plan on swapping the drives, so no lost stars.

I found this case perfectly fit a Samsung 850 m.2 SSD. It was quick and easy to install the drive in less than five minutes, and the fit was just about perfect. I will say that I would have appreciated more than one adapter cable. The case itself provides a female Mico B USB port. That's generally pretty rare and hard find connect many devices or cables to directly. The cable they provided had a male Micro B connector that plugs into the device and a male USB C connector to plug into your PC. Unfortunately, at this time (early 2017) few devices support USB C, and not a single adapter at my local electronics stores had a female USB C connector (although many have a male USB C connector presumably to support the new MacBooks). I found I ended up needing to order a Micro B to USB A cable just to be able to connect my SSD to most of my devices. I'd recommend purchasing a similar cable with this device, or getting a version that includes it.

Tested it with Samsung Evo 860 2TB. Performance is top notch, though I don't really like the form and port selection. I wish that it had USB C connector instead of Micro B. I guess that it's so thick and short because control board is actually on the bottom of adapter, not on the same side as in most enclosures. Not sure, if it affects performance or manufacturing process, but I wish it was thinner.

Cheap, Reliable and good choice

Derzeit läuft eine "Crucial MX300 Solid-State-Drive 1TB M.2 2280SS" darinnen ohne Probleme an USB 2.0 und USB 3.0/3.1 . Mit USB2 will man aber keine 1TB voll machen. Das Gehäuse ist aus Aluminium aber, wird auch nicht versprochen, in keinsterweise Wasserdicht. Und vorsicht das Gehäuse ist nur für SATA SSD zu gebrauchen sonst wird gleich wieder gesagt das es nicht Funktioniert.
