AD500 OBD2 Scanner Car Diagnostic Tool, Engine ABS SRS Transmission

I bought this TOPDON AD500 OBD2 scanner and it exceeded my expectations. It is a very complete tool that helped me quickly identify car error codes without any complications. The interface is intuitive, it connects immediately, and it offers very useful diagnostic functions for both beginners and those who know a bit more about mechanics. An excellent investment that is worth every penny to save on mechanic visits!

Excellent Tool!!! Very well designed with heavy duty construction. The most user friendly diagnostic scan tool I’ve ever used. It has all of the features that I need and with lifetime updates, this will probably be the last scan tool I need to purchase.

I want to like this tool and am a little put off by a couple of things. The item description says there are no subscriptions and that is basically true, however if you want the device to operate at full functionality, it will apparently cost you about $200 bucks a year for...a subscription. How I found that was by going to the email tab to send a report to myself. Instead of email, it has two subscriptions offered but from what I can tell, no ability to email. I wanted to reset my oil light on my 2017 transit connect so when I went to the maintenance tab, it listed tons of vehicle manufacturers and a way to download free updates for each. I have a ford and a chevy so I didn't need all the other updates but apparently you must update them all before you can get the function to reset the oil light on just the ford or chevy...I guess because that is how it worked for me. I like the tool because it is easy to read, has a touch screen or button interface, a ruggedized case and seems to work pretty good although I don't see much more that this does than a decent cheaper one like Blue Driver. I wish it would email the report I can create. Also, I wish I could double tap on an error code and link to a solution db and a source of supply for the part if available. The less expensive ones seem to do that. I don't know what is included in the subscription access but I think the seller should have been up front about it. It might be things I want to use but certainly not going going to pay more for than the device itself. Anyway, it will do what I need it to do.

I use this obd2 scanner all the time for diagnosis on my two vehicles. I recently had to diagnose a SRS light on the dash of my Ford Escape. Turned out to be a seatbelt pretensioner which I never would have thought unless I had a tool that can scan the restraint control module. Having a tool that can go beyond the scope of a basic scantool is awesome considering the cost of this tool is very reasonable. I also used it on my Nissan and it works great on that vehicle as well. It's easy to use and the data is clear and easy to understand. With live data and a helpful library that has TSB for pretty much any vehicle you can think of along with a DTC repair guide. These tools can help you promptly diagnose with pinpoint accuracy with confidence. Has been compatible with every car I have connected to and can do a lot of tricks for a budget scanner. It has a solid build as well so it will survive a shop environment. The materials feel sturdy and add a little weight to it. Feels solid in your hands and can take dings bumps. I'm overall satisfied and also glad I saved some money from not going to the mechanic for every little thing. Hope this review helps.

Works great on my 2015 to see codes and removing them, but you'll need to pay for the removal of code for my 2025, so nice if that was mentioned in the details.

It started out as a great tool. I have three vehicle's. 06 Nissan 350z, 18 Tacoma and a 14 BMW X5. Before using the tool, I did update all the software and upgraded the firmware. It worked great at first on the Z and Tacoma. The BMW is the one with the check engine light. I tried scanning it, auto scan failed so I entered manually. It did work but it showed everything "not connected" So I tried it on my Tacoma and Z. Same thing, the auto scan failed, entered the vin manually and it couldn't read anything. I tried several times on all three. Just ended up returning it and bought the AD600 since it was on sale. So far, the 600 is working much better. It scans all three of my vehicles and it cleared the code on my X5. I wanted to like the 500. Maybe other's will have better luck than me. TOPDON is support is what made stay with the brand and get the AD600. Yeah, there's other hardware out there but support is iffy. Edit: TOPDON service is outstanding. After returning the AD500 I purchased the AD600 and was offered discount. The 600 works much better. Don't know what happened with the 500 model.

terrible operations. forced account creation and has to have wifi to work. plug in to car and takes 20min to go through login and vehicle recognition. speed is terrible then goes to get "information" from it's website in some other country and link unavailable. i can't get it to display simple realtime data from vehicle. it's full of pop-up screens for id check and sending me codes to my e-mail just to use it. verify and re-enter the same data every time i use it. it's plugged into the car and wants me to enter the VIN with no obvious selection to read the VIN. poke around for to find read the vin and it reads it then asks me if that is correct. i mean seriously? o.k. so i verify the vin that it read from the ECM is the same on the vehicle physically. (and this has to be done every time it's used on the same vehicle). then you have to use a code it sends to your email again. finally you get to confirming that it is the correct vehicle it thinks it's actually plugged into FFS, then it connects to the web to pull information about that vehicle and can't. simple can't. give a pop up window "no info" with no other options. this is the worst auto purchase I've ever made. i rage threw the scanner across my garage and haven't touched it since. i need to find a witch to put a hex on whoever is responsible. i've had better results working with gremlins after feeding a mogwai at 1am.

Best scan tool for at home. Software is free no subscription like other brands. Device has too many features too list. For the price im impress compared too expensive scan tools. This is basically a tablet, you can also browse websites on the device and has a speaker but its not too loud hard too hear. You can view, record, save live data. The graph is awesome up too 4 modules at a time. Easily switch units too metric, imperial etc. Has a decent amount of reset functions. Definitely recommend this tablet obd scanner

Il permet de lire non seulement les codes moteur OBD2 classiques, mais aussi ABS, SRS, transmission, batterie et bien plus encore, ce qui est rare à ce prix. La fonction AutoVIN est très pratique pour détecter automatiquement mon véhicule, et les mises à jour gratuites à vie assurent que l’appareil reste à jour avec les dernières compatibilités. Ce scanner m’a permis de diagnostiquer rapidement des problèmes, d’effacer des codes d’erreur et de vérifier l’état général du véhicule sans passer par un garage — ce qui m’a fait économiser du temps et de l’argent. En résumé, excellent rapport qualité-prix, facile à utiliser même pour les débutants, et suffisamment complet pour les amateurs comme pour les bricoleurs confirmés. Je recommande vivement !

Does it read Specific Manufacturer codes like GM that other readers don't? YES! My 2020 Buick is displaying an engine light but my old reader couldn't read the "GM specific code" to diagnose the issue, so I purchased this TOPDON AD500. The device arrived the next day, which was pretty sweet, I did the login setup (create account, confirm information, etc..etc) then hooked it up to wireless internet, Installed the updates with the handy touch screen, downloaded all the FORD, GM, DODGE, JEEP, CHEVROLET updates available since I don't own any other types of vehicles. FYI, this thing can read all codes from almost every manufactured car sold in Canada or so it seems. Plugged it into my 2020 Buick Encore, hit the "diagnose" button on the screen, BAM, Code P146D:00 EVAP Surge Pump code. I'm so friggin stoked this thing works so well. Turns out the code is related to a recall so it's going into GM in 2 days to get the Recall work done. Well worth the $184.00 sale price. That, and it looks like Free updates for life, or at least until the year 2124 when all the updates seem to expire. If you want a code reader that seems like it can read almost every manufacturers car codes...seems to be really good quality, and doesn't just read the "generic codes", this seems to be a good choice. Even had some updates to get European models and out of country models as well, like Rolls Royce and Lamborghini's ....one day. If you have $200 to spend on a code reader that is up to date for 2025, has a bunch of options and can read codes to pretty much whatever you plug it in to...This was a good choice for me.

Had an issue connecting at first contacted support then fixed it on there end. And works perfectly very in-depth and dose what I needed it to do to throuble shoot my diesel truck. Would recommend

I've had this scanner for four months now and it has been extremely useful. I've used it to check and reset my TPMS system. And just recently I had a transmission code that my cheap ODBII scanner that I keep in the car wouldn't read. When I got home I pulled out the Topdon, hooked it up and ran a system scan. It detected the P0847, directed me to the 3'rd clutch pressure switch, and allowed me to clear the code. I appreciate how it has its own internal battery so I can disconnect it from the car and it will retain and display info. It connects seamlessly to my home wifi and downloads necessary updates for itself and the automakers I select. This was an excellent investment that is miles away from cheap code readers! Very Happy!

If you work on vehicles even just occasionally while doing general maintenance or checking for any dash light codes, this scan tool is hands down one of the best for the price. Most cheaper scan tools don't do ABS, Transmission, or Airbag lights, so having a tool that can scan the entire system instead of generic engine codes is amazing.
