Great for kids!
This was a gift for my 7 year old. He loves rocks and gems and having to dig for them. The blocks are made out of a chalky substance. It’s easy enough that he doesn’t get frustrated but challenging enough that he enjoys the work of “digging” at the block to find the gem. He’s only gotten to 1 gem so far and it’s about the size of a marble. Not sure what sizes the others will be but I’d assume similar. Overall, these types of gem digging things are always fun for kids. And this one doesn’t disappoint with 12 blocks of gems to dig for!

Awesome gift!
