Review: Wonderful artwork, even if you don't play the game - I don't play the tabletop RPG at all, but was blown away by some of the artwork in this volume. In some ways, it's more inspiring to not know the story behind the picture and to let your imagination fill in the blanks. In particular, one Edward Hopper-esque boxcar diner scene on page 14 is simply wonderful! The closer you look, the more you see... There are many great pieces in the book, but this one is a real standout. Some of the other art inspirations are rather "on the nose", (there's an occultist on page 112, for example, who looks decidedly like a young Manly P Hall,) and there are a few anachronisms for the 1920s setting, but that's all forgivable. The usual collection of cosmic horrors are present and correct, as are the stereotypical gumshoes, flappers, occultists and gangsters. All Tommy-gun's blazing and tires squealing, of course... None of this action-hero stuff was really present in the original Lovecraft stories, but the mythos has taken on a life of its own since then under different authors, which is fine. Either way there is a lot of inspiration to take from the works in this book and I recommend it whether you play the RPG or not. Review: Muy completo, de buena calidad. - Tapa dura.
