Work Well Once You Figure Them Out
I purchased the earlier (16mqc) version of the Quick Connects several times, once from Amazon. The most recent second time I ordered the 16mqc (specified in Amazon's product title), I actually received the newer 17mqc version. Concerned about whether the newer version would work with the older ones I had, I reached out to Melnor via their website on a Sunday evening and they replied on Monday morning confirming that they can work together. I've used the older version for over a year and the newer for just a few days. One of the reasons that I like this product is because it is made of sturdy plastic rather than metal. Metal seems like it would be more durable but we kept finding that metal threaded parts eventually fuse to the metal hose threaded ends. Then you have to cut the hose off and use a hose repair kit to put a new end on the hose. Plastic couplings get around that. The main thing you need to understand is how the colors on these work. The yellow pieces always go together in pairs. The yellow pair goes on either the spigot and that end of your hose, or can be used to join two hoses together. Water always goes straight through the yellow pair without a stop. The blue pairs of couplings (or now grey colored) are for the far end of the hose and the "product" you attach to it: a spray nozzle maybe or a sprinkler or a soaker hose for example. This set does have a stop so that when properly secured on the hose and product, you can disconnect the product (sprayer, whatever) without turning off the water and switch to something else. The new version works like the old 16mqc version except that there is an extra step. You secure the two blue/grey pieces together just like in the older version and then you twist the collar to the right to "lock" it. This is helpful if you found that the previous version didn't stay secure. (I didn't have this problem.) The sort-of downside of the new version is that to secure the two parts, you need to be sure that the collar is unlocked in order to put the two parts together. So basically it adds a little step but I suspect this is something I'll get used to quickly enough. I have found that it is important to use the lock on this version as it will otherwise leak, but with the lock it has been fine.Anyway, I do like the Quick Connect couplings very much. I did recently also order a Melnor plastic on/off coupling that I positioned BEFORE the yellow couplings where I join two hoses together. This is handy since the yellow doesn't have a stop. Now I can use the on/off to shut off the water at that point (without having to walk all the way back to the house) and then disconnect the yellow if I want to remove the second hose. (I bought the on/off through Amazon too.)

Great for quick connect and disconnect. Does not overwinter well.
I like all of Melnor’s garden products that I have used. These quick connect hose fittings are handy for quickly swapping out tools and lengthening hoses. The yellow ones are hollow and act like a normal hose head. The gray ones only allow flow if they are connected. I wish I could get a pack of three yellow ones without the gray ones. These fittings don’t overwinter well. If they freeze they start to leak. The problem seems to be the o rings. I wish I could easily get a pack of replacement o rings by themselves.

They don't last very long
I've gone through a half dozen of these over the last couple of years. They work great and I use them on my boat motor so I can quickly flush it without the hassle of unscrewing a hose fitting all the time. The issue is durability. The "stop" function and the "connector" function have some kind of spring or something and after a while (6 months or so), that part breaks and you can't really get it to come apart. Not sure if it is the vibration of the motor or just the cheapness of the material used. Either way, you don't have many other options so I guess it is the price you pay for conveniance.

Making life a little easier
This makes it so much easier to switch nozzles outwithout leaking and many times the difficulty of unscrewing due to hard water..

Brilliant
Makes it easy to change hose attachments quickly. You can even do so while the water is on, however this is a little more difficult and takes a good amount of force to connect since your are battling the water pressure.

I wish I knew about these sooner!
These are so easy to install and use. No more never-ending screwing and unscrewing the hoses and attachments. Perfect.
