Fantastic sugar replacement!!!
I just got off the scale and found that I've dropped to what I weighed in my 20's - and without aggressive dieting/starvation!!! I feel this product played a big role in this achievement and feel compelled to write a review.First of all, I already follow a regular exercise routine (6 days a week for at least 30 minutes). I also have converted to a mainly vegan/whole foods diet (occasional cheat with cheese) and was never considered overweight, but I always struggled with the "last 5 pounds."I came across a book ("Anticancer") that discussed the connection between the increase of sugar intake and the increased risk of cancer and decided to take a very active stance in decreasing my (processed) sugar intake - I do not count whole fruit as part of this problem - but include honey, maple and agave syrup in the added sugar category. When I did this, I realized that there is hidden sugar in a lot of products I thought were healthy (salad dressings, trail mix, soy yogurt, etc.). I started to cook more to have more control of the ingredients in my food.I previous used a lot of Truvia (a stevia based sweetener) as I thought it was "natural" - stevia is made from a herb. But in researching this more throughly, I found Truiva contains erythritol (an artificial sweetener that was shown in a study on rats to increase weight despite being non-caloric by somehow altering metabolism) and began looking for a more natural replacement.I came across tagatose (a derivative of fructose) which has about the same sweetness as regular sugar with about 60% less calories and a very low glycemic index (tagatose is 3 - compared to table sugar which is 68 - which means it doesn't spike insulin when eaten). However studies in rats have shown that eaten in high quantities, it can cause liver enlargement due to a glycogen build up. Human studies have shown no difference in between tagatose and table sugar at dose of 45gm/day (or about 4 tablespoons/day).Okay, so in small quantities this is probably a safe replacement for sugar I thought. To further more decrease the intake amount, I mix it with the purified stevia extract (rebaudioside A) which is a bit less bitter than plain stevia. I mix 1 cup of tagatose with 3 t. of rebaudioside A and use about 1/3 the amount when replacing regular sugar in drinks, baking, etc.Anyways, I've been doing this for about 6 months how and, without making any other changes, I've dropped those "'last 5 lbs" and another 3 lbs on top of that!!! Keep in mind, I also am completely staying clear of all artificial sweeteners (Splenda, Truvia, etc), no diet sodas, and nothing with sugar (cookies, donuts, sweetened cereal, yogurt, etc.). It sounds difficult, but after getting onto a routine - it gets easier and boy, I love the results!!! I'm turning 50 this year and can now fit into the same size I did my freshman year of college!!!i love this stuff!!!

Side effects
I purchase the product just for my morning coffee. I read that this product would not raise my sugar levels; this is yet to be verified. I have noticed that the product makes me very regular but I'm hoping this gets better in time. I like that I have not felt any after taste that are so common in other sugar substitutes. The price per ounce seems a bit high.

Not worth buying
Don't waste your money. It says about 80% as sweet as sugar. No way it is. I wasted my $$ on this and another brand both don't do the job. I'm going back to tried and proved Splenda or Truvia both work great as stated on package. Good for feliabetics and healthy products.

I absolutely love the taste and feel Of tegatose
I absolutely love the taste and feelOf tegatose. When I firstGot it I stuck my finger in to taste it. It tastes like sugar and crunchy like sugar. And I have not suffered a laxative effect. I will keepThis is my house Friday m now on.

Taste like sugar! You can substitute the sugar in equal parts in any baking!
I love the taste in my coffee! I could never adjust to Stevia, so this was a pleasant surprise. But in my coffee, I notice it acts like a laxative. But I use it baking or making any desert, and I don't get that reaction. Love the fact that it measures like sugar, so I can do so much with it.

Ruinously Expensive
By far my favorite non-sugar sweetener. It tastes, melts, caramlizes and dissolves lol table sugar. The drawbacks are that this is dairy derived and can cause quite the gastric disturbance, and the price! My gosh it’s a mortgage! Which is exactly why we stopped using it.

CAUTION can cause EXTREME upper and lower GI distress!
CAUTION! No aftertaste so I was excited. First use was in my morning coffee. I can’t remember when I was this sick. Within 1 hour I began sweating, throwing up and diarrhea. I’ll use real sugar more judiciously vs being this sick.
