Been there for me on so many lonely nights.
Lots of people who really love music and sometimes just need that one album to cry to, it's usually hard rock, or acoustic music, or something that generally makes you cry, but is more sad or angsty than anything. (This is based off of people I know, I'm sure not everyone's like that.) Beach House's debut album, though, is my remedy for a sad night. It's kind of hard to describe, but while the album is incredibly lo-fi, it's very comforting and has the quality of something you'd watch on an HD tv, it feels like a journey from the beginning to the end. ..But it's much more subtle and has the warmth of a home video VHS tape watched on a little TV in the kitchen. There are some comforting songs, some a little creepy actually, some telling stories, some just mumbling words. But they all go so well together and I can't imagine the CD missing any of the tracks. There's a light sense of melancholy throughout, but it's more relatable and warm (despite being a bit sad) than detached and cold, like some other sad albums I've heard lately are.The comforting/somewhat sad songs (Saltwater, Apple Orchard, Lovelier Girl, Heart and Lungs) are really pretty and make me cry, because they convey that feeling of warm-sadness so well. It's very very lovely. "Auburn and Ivory" and "Childhood" are a bit darker than the other songs, and the former is really like nothing I've ever heard. Trancelike... kind of as if you're wandering around a creepy, unpopular carnival at night by yourself. As for the rest, "Master of None" is an OK song, probably the weakest on the album though, and "Tokyo Witch" might be my favorite. I've played that song so many times, often on repeat, and cried a lot to it. "All I wanted to see was that I am better, all I want to believe is that I am better, round and round, all I want you to see is that I am better, round and round." Cannot describe how much I relate to that. And even if you don't relate much to the lyrics, the music alone is enough to make you feel good.Last thing.. After "Heart and Lungs" plays, there's about a minute of silence. I suggest you wait out the silence cuz after it's over there's an unbelievably sad, yet hopeful song, with the best lyric from the whole CD - "She's rolling down the window, but it always rains."Very good and very underrated album, and much better than their recent work (IMO). Definitely check this one out.

Worth every penny
My boyfriend was so happy. It also came with a disk that I had no idea would. This completes his beach house vinyl collection and Iβm so happy to have helped. He definitely deserved it, he doesnβt usually buy himself nice things. (Well, besides his beach house vinyls π₯°) was new and authentic!

Great Mood Music
I love Beach House and as a Beach House completionist, I had to have this album. It is great but I don't enjoy it as much as I like their newer stuff. Their music is the type that I like to turn out all the lights and throw it on the record player while I'm browsing the net. Great mood music.

So so good
Beach House have released seven albums now plus a B-side collection. This album, their self-titled record, remains my favorite. Each track is solid. Vinyl pressing is high quality by the way.

Amazing debut
I go to Beach House for soothing music. This is the perfect album to fall asleep to.The first Beach House album feels much more airy and less specific than the more recent releases.

One of my favorite albums
BH has replaced Opal and Kendra Smith as my go-to sublime band. I never thought I'd find music as beautiful as Opal's "Early Recordings". Also way better than Mazzy Star or the over-rated Hope Sandoval.

Beach House debut
2007, Beach House by Beach House, a nine song debut album in CD format of this engaging duo of dream pop journey-folk. Victoria Legrand, erstwhile French citizen now in USA, partners Alex Scally. Master Of None has tremendous vibe and very slight echo on vocal as if recorded in a tiny room full of rugs and blackout curtains. The roots of later work reside here: elegaic moods, colour of music blue, green and purple; tristesse. Gaze at the stars and wonder, Beach House
