Is the lid supposed to leak if turned sideways or upside down?

No, mine does not leak. It works as well if not better than the factory lid that was on my hydroflask.

Great having a flip lid instead of the screw cap the water bottle came with. Doesn’t leak. Good fit .

The lid did all the advertising suggested. It fit the 32 ounce wide mouth hydro flask container and the straw was easy to snip and fit. I prefer this lid and how the straw inserts versus the other that came with it.
