Herbs Alkanet Root Powder

Alkanet root is used for another application for making Red oil. Red oil is used for bringing out the figure in walnut gun stocks. This process is an old school process that was use on old double Purdey's and British side by side rifles . Your powder has taken months off the original process. The original recipe required Alkanet root soaked in boiled linseed oil for 6 months. Your powder I soak in boiled linseed oil for only one week and it's good to go. Thank you for such a time consuming product.

It looks red/maroon, but in cold process soap it actually turns a dark greyish purple. Still beautiful and natural, but if you are looking for red/maroon this isn't for you.

I make soaps and a little goes a long way. In the first picture, the top, left row the second soap is the lavender I made with this alkanet root. The second picture top right is also alkanet root but a darker soap. You can easily see the purple color in both of them.

Powder is great. Package was not labeled and so I didn’t know what I was opening. Powder everywhere. The package was small and taped well so I had to really open it as is. It should have been in another bag. I contacted the seller and they were very pleasant. I would buy from them again but mention the packaging at the time of order.

This product was delivered as described and pictured. It used it in cold process soap making and it turned a grey / very pale purple color. This isn't horrible but just be aware the color may not stay constant.

The only alkanet root powder I've tried for soaping. Infused it in olive oil and soap turned out grayish lavender. Seems like it should have been more purple. Overall happy with the product even though soap was grayer than I wanted it to be. I attribute this to my soaping technique, not the root powder.

I am giving this product 5 stars because the product is 100% as described. HOWEVER, I make homemade lip balm and lipstick with all natural ingredients and thought this would be perfect to create a red color. THIS DOES NOT DISSOLVE--it just cakes together into chunks. Bummer. But, for everyone else that doesn't create cosmetics, this product is totally as described & ships fast.

I received this product today. When this package arrived, I thought it was a small sandwich bag of potting soil. It smelled like dirt and it looked like dirt. I mixed it with water to see if maybe my vision and sense of smell was off, and it was surely dirt. The color didn’t change, it remained the brown color it was. I thought to myself that I should complain but thought again and said I wouldn’t. This was only $4.97, it was a waist of $4.97. I would not suggest that anyone else purchase this product. It is not alkanet powder, I received a 1oz bag of dirt.
