Tarot of the Witches Deck

Excellent Artwork by Fergus Hall - James Bond Movie Tarot Artist
I disagree with some of the posters on here that this deck will appeal primarily to members of the occult. That's totally NOT true, simply because they are called the "Witch's Tarot" and once called the "Devil's Tarot". This particular deck was actually called simply, The "James Bond" deck. Mr. Fergus Hall of the Scotland Highlands painted the original Major Arcana of this set for the famous James Bond Movie, "Live and Let Die" in late 1972 and was released in 1973. The charactor "Solitaire" played by the beautiful Jane Seymour, used a now famous set of Tarot cards that only 27 cards were hand painted and made. There was no time to paint an entire set of 78 Tarot cards for the movie. However, due in large part to the movie's great success and the fact that this was the first major motion picture that its theme was centered around the mysteries of the Tarot, requests flooded in as to how to buy a set of these cards. Mr. Fergus Hall agreed to paint an entire 78-card complete deck. This is that deck! Beautiful artistry here in these cards!!I am a Catholic Christian and my beliefs in the Tarot are steeped deeply into the fact that the "Three Magi" who visited the Christ Child did indeed study the ancient Egyptian Tarot and we know they studied the planets. There is nothing occult about these cards! The occult practices have smeared the reputation of the Holiness of the Tarot, as well as our modern deck of playing cards. Both decks are God's messages to mankind. They are meant to THWART evil, not perpetuate it!!! The cards are NOT for playing games like poker or tripoly!! That is like wagering a game on the Bible!!

My First Tarot Deck
My mother got me this tarot deck when I was very young. I absolutely loved it, I always used it and I always felt very connected to it. 20+ years have past, after several moves, and a child a few cards went missing from the original deck. I am glad I'm able to replace it with the same deck today ❤️

Beautiful deck of Tarot Cards
I received the James Bond Live and Let Die Tarot Deck when I was nine. I didn't understand what it was but I thought the cards were neat. I still have my JB set and wanted a second deck to use. I believe this is the most atractive Tarot Deck there is. Fergus Hall's artwork is amazing!

eye-popping colours and clarity
I have to say I love this deck, from the hilarious Fool trump to the silly but charming Star. The oddly proportioned bodies are Uber-human, and the expressive faces are stern (the strong man of the Hierophant, who looks like Aleister Crowley with a beard), confident (the moustachioed incarnation of Strength), and scary (The Devil, just being himself). This Tarot does not seek Wisdom but assumes it, and reads well, in my mind, as a daily consult. I love the details (notice the Devil's feet don't match) and the rich, effective colors. It's definitely a Tarot that's user-friendly, without pretentions, and redoubtably worth having.

Magic
The cards arrived in excellent condition. Very happy with the service and quality. The bookmark is a nice surprise. The cards themselves are beautiful and rich on colour and surreal in imagery. A good size for the hand and a great feel to them.

Glad I found this again.
Forget about the Bond thing, I’m not a Bond fan, never seen a movie in its entirety. I’m not a witch. LOVE this deck! Now, it is a Marseilles deck - in that the pip cards (minor arcana) will not be individually illustrated like Rider-Waite-Smith decks AND Justice is 8, Strength is 11 (major arcana) - this is how tarot decks have been for the better part of their history until RWS switched that up in 1909 so that they could coincide with the placement order of astrological signs Leo and Libra. Don’t let that put you off this magical deck. The artwork reminds me of the dreamscape that Coney Island lives in, where traveling carnivals go when the lights go off. The clarity of color in a spread also winks at you to say with an elbow nudge, “oh, you know the answer.” As simple as the imagery may seem, divinity is in the details (for instance, why are the man’s eyes in The Lovers looking at the reader instead of the woman who’s hair and arms he’s entwined in, hmm?) and you’ll love finding the symbolism in your own time with the deck. It’s not complicated, it’s not overwhelmed with mysticism - just gives more straightforward answers with a sly smileThis was one of the first decks I ever had about 12 years ago or so and out of over 30 other decks it’s always been one of my top 3 favorites. I always get very accurate intuitive readings with this (almost Because the pips aren’t illustrated) and the deck has a personality whose charm you can’t help but love. So rebought it because I was missing my old deck which is in storage somewhere. So why 4 stars? It seems like the card stock has changed - which in itself is not a bad thing; this deck feels much thinner and less cardboardy than I remember - it now feels almost plasticy like modern poker cards but not glossy which on it’s own I’m happy for - feels like it can take a daily beating in a bag and heavy shuffling. The card dimensions with this new card stock make it incredibly smooth to shuffle with! But I knocked off a star because in the deck that I received there were several cards with a hairline scratch going perfectly horizontal across the front of the card... I’ll try to post some pics. It happens throughout the deck and isn’t super noticeable looking at the card dead on, but at an angle it’s very evident. And in the suit of coins it looks like the printer started loosing ink halfway through the print because the green toward the middle of the cards gets progressively yellower as it goes from 10 to Ace.So I’m bummed about those small aesthetic flaws, but not enough to go through the process of returning this deck for another.

I had this deck about 20 years ago and misplaced it. Glad I was able to find it again.
