Beautiful Book!

Good tales.

The illustrations are gorgeous and the stories are very fun. I haven’t read through all the book but they are very family friendly. It is written… in a not stricken English way… so the translation is closer to a Russian way of speaking which, I feel, gives it a more authentic story telling feel to it. Highly recommend. It did take forever to get to me. But I had ordered it with an out of print book so it might have come faster had I not done that.

I adore this book. It is beautifully made with a gold-embossed cover. The stories are beautifully illustrated as well. And the stories! Oh my, these are the best old fairy tales ever. This would make a wonderful gift for anyone.

The illustrations are captivating. I wish that the text could match them. The writing is little heavy, some times awkward. Also, unclear who is the translator or the editor. 3 stars for the stories, 5 stars for the illustrations.

Comparative literature of fairy/folk tales of Northern Europe.

It was one of the best purchase I've ever had. As an illustrator I always try to find the best book for inspiration and reading. Good choice for fairytale lovers!!! And great illustrations!!!

This is a beautiful book! The tales are often a little dark (most good folk tales are in my opinion) but great reads. Obviously this is aimed at younger audiences, so there's a lot of repetition and similarities between characters, but if you are interested in these kinds of stories this won't matter at all and is part of the draw. Each story has a great illustration at the start of each title page, the overall presentation is lovely, I look forward to many rereads!

Nicely translated and beautifully illustrated book of fairytales, good introduction to traditional Russian folklore. It might be a bit scary for younger children, who were not brought up with such characters as Baba Yaga, but older children should enjoy it.

Awesome book. I had a book of Russian tales in my childhood and somehow it got lost to time. This book brings back Nostalgic memories back. Beautifully illustrated. The book arrived before the scheduled date. Very Much Pleased to have it. Thank You
