This bag pwns.
Awesome travel bag. It's not super huge so you can keep in the overhead but has enough room for short trips. I dragged it around Seattle for a convention, in and out of the rain. Took it on the ferry and had it with me most of the time and it held up well. I never strapped it to my back, rather kept it rolling around and even when I was running away from homeless attackers, it held up quite well and rolled smooth and has shown pretty much no signs of breaking down.Very happy with the purchase, probably more than most of the garbage I end up with these days.

Highly functional
This athletic looking backpack is exceptional! Extremely sturdy , well made, good pockets and rolled easily through airport . I especially appreciated that the handle was made to be long enough so I could wheel in upright position . All about function and durability!

Durable and functional
I purchased the High Sierra Freewheel Book Bag in March of 2012 and have used it ever since to haul my computer and work items back and forth to work. I bought it because it was one of the few backpack bags that had wheels, it was big enough to hold my work laptop, books, and personal items, and it didn't cost hundreds of dollars like most rolling computer bags. I usually don't write reviews but wanted to for this item because it's proved to be quite durable and functional. After 21 months of use, there are no tears or signs of wear in the fabric on the outside or the inside. I've scuffed up the bottom hauling it over concrete steps and the bottom panel has held up to the abuse. The wheels are showing show signs of wear and may have to be replaced in a couple years, but that's expected. I wasn't sure about the bag at first because it felt a little flimsy when it first arrived. It felt too light weight to be able to last long and the handle felt a little wiggly. But I'm pleased to say it's a well-made bag that is both light and durable and the handle still functions well. Many rolling bags rattle and are noisy when you pull them. This one was very quiet for about a month, but then started to get noisier. This is why I'm giving it only four stars instead of five. But really, considering the cost of the bag, the rattle is a very minor issue. To get a completely quiet rolling bag you'd have to pay a lot more. I think the rattle is mostly in the handle -- in locking mechanism that keeps the handle from slipping after you expand it. The wheels still seem to be pretty quiet. As far as its function, the pockets and sections are easy to access and there's enough room to hold my 16" laptop, about 3" of books and papers, and misc. personal items. I'd definitely recommend this bag to someone looking for an inexpensive but durable and functional rolling computer bag.

Freaking Awesome!!!
This backpack is so worth it!! It is so versatile. I love how the straps hide away into a little pouch and you can wheel it around or you can pull your straps out in two seconds clip them in and carry it like a backpack. I’ve been using it for two weeks now and I absolutely love it. Lots and lots of storage space Lots of compartments and internal compartments.A must have if you’re in the market. Well built (in my opinion) and I love the top wide handle easy to carry and move around one handed. Wheels are rollerblade wheels. Very smooth. Fits in any overhead carry on any flight even a commuter flight

Amazing - compact and smooth!
Right off the bat, I want to express my admiration for how this thing was advertised as "smooth ride". I didn't buy it for that specifically but I was astonished at how that's definitely true. I wheel this thing around with me every single day -- it makes a two-mile roundtrip through a city whose sidewalks haven't seen better days since the 60s when they were probably first paved, and it's been an absolute trooper. I have a laptop in there (all the accessories I need for the laptop such as the charger, mouse, etc.), a lunch box, two sweatshirts, a sketchbook, and a drawing tablet. It's a tight fit, but nothing is getting damaged or bent. The handle is very long so it's very comfortable to roll without feeling like I have to slightly drop my shoulder to accomodate, which has relieved a lot of the back pain I've had from using a regular luggage bag. It's got a plastic underside which takes away the anxiety of coming to sudden stops on concrete and fearing that you may have torn the underside of the bag.I will say, I haven't used it as a backpack much because it's not particularly comfortable long-term. Because of the compartment where the handle is stored, the back is rigid flat and doesn't have any ergonomic give -- it feels exactly how you would imagine attaching backpack to a luggage bag would be. I'm not taking off any stars for this though, because I still greatly appreciate the option when I need to get somewhere at a brisk jog, or I don't want to hurt my shoulders/arms from carrying it with one hand up several flights of stairs.

My new go-to for travel
My old backpack, which was this exact model, survived for well over 10 years, and faced a lot of abuse. It probably made 100 trips, always as my carry-on, sometimes overloaded and roll down a sidewalk, sometimes carried. Finally, one of the straps started to give. I replaced it with this. It’s the exact same model, so all that stuff still applies. It fits a surprising amount, all of the pockets are very easy to use, and the middle pocket has a little pouch on top. That’s great for carrying things you might need to grab in the middle of a flight or the middle of a drive or something. it’s incredibly well put together, zippers are terrific, and the fabric seems to be indestructible. You can carry it like a backpack, or you can put the straps so that they are tucked in in the back and out of the way. The handle extends up really high, much higher than other backpacks. That’s perfect for the airport. I’m 6 foot one, and I find a lot of handles on luggage could use another three or 4 inch. This one is actually long enough! I couldn’t recommend this more highly!
