Some Native Americans believed the night air was filled with good and bad dreams. The legend of the Dream Catcher is that its webbing captures the spirits and filters them, protecting us from evil and letting through only the good dreams. This Dream Catcher prayer flag has the following sayings: "Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die today." James Dean "Our greatest fear should not be of failure, but of succeeding at things that don't really matter." "Live the Life you Love; Love the Life you Live." "Sleep is the best meditation." Dalai Lama "You have to dream before your dreams can come true." "The gentlest force in the world will overcome the most rigid." The images on this prayer flag are block-printed and stamped by hand on each bright panel. These prayer flags are made in a small shop in Juarez, Mexico, a city ravaged by poverty and violent crime. The women in our shop take tremendous pride in producing the best quality prayer flags available at a modest price. They are made of a durable weight cotton poplin so they will not 'scrunch up' or tear in the wind. They are hand dyed with permanent, non-toxic, Fiber Reactive Procion dyes and they last many months outside in wind and rain before fading very gradually. Our workshop is part of a community development project run by the Sisters of Charity (proyectosantonino.org), who have a community center for families with special needs children. This project supports several of these families and ALL of our proceeds go directly to the people making the prayer flags. Each strand of prayer flags consists of nine panels, each 6"-5", and the strand is approximately 54" long.
