Monstress Volume 6: The Vow

My son loves graphic novels and this didnt disappoint! Fantastic graphics and storyline!

This series is now my #1 faverite comic book series of all time! The illustrations in ALL of the volumes published, so far, are consistently beautiful. Which is somewhat unusual for comic books. More often than not, long running comic book series tend to have varied quality in terms of the illustrations. It is awesome that this particular series not only maintains the quality of artwork but actualy improves as it goes on. Another thing I love about Monstress is the sheer complexity of the various competing factions and characters. It makes it far more interesting that one can't tell who's good or evil. Much like real life, almost everone has a mixter of both good and evil aspects. And also this makes the various interactions a bit unpredictable. There have been ALOT of shocking revelations as this series as progressed. I also think the main character, Maika, is awesome. She is one of my most faverite comic book characters of all time. And finally, the world building is the best ever for a comic book. I love the mix of epic fantasy with sci- fi elements in this steampunk setting. I can't wait for Volume 7!

I am so enthralled with this series, I had bought the first three volumes because I enjoy Marjorie M Liu's writing and I like comics, so I thought what the heck I'll give it a try! Oh my gosh. Love. I am so in love. I got Volume 4 and then five and six ASAP. I've pre-ordered Volume 7, and I cannot WAIT to get my hands on it. And then end of this one?!?!?! OH MY OH MY! Betrayal was expected, but the corner it came from and how it came? Definitely was not!

The art is just wonderful especially towards the end of the volume. Nice quality trade with good paper and ink and cutting down on the size helps make it cheaper. I will probably get a volume 2 omnibus when the time comes because I enjoy this series so much. I really enjoy the little tidbit pages of cat lore. An entire book of them would be entertaining to me but probably not most. I read the Silmarilion for pleasure after all.I am wondering about the how and why of the baroness...

The book is terrific, but my cover is misprinted. It's so obvious when it's on my bookshelf. The contents are great, but it sucks to spend money to complete my collection and then look at them together to see the obvious difference between #1-5 and this 6th one. A huge bummer.

Physical quality of the book itself was good as usual and the story continues to be absolutely incredible.

Art style has changed slightly, but still a great read

Unique story and great artwork, but imo very hard to keep the different factions apart. Each time i have to reread the two latest volumes, to take up the thread again and to know who's who and what is what.

I think this might have been my favourite volume yet!Everyone probably knows by now that this is both a rich and complex story and a beautiful work of art, but at times it can also be really exciting!Things regularly happen that you just can't see coming, especially in these later volumes, and by the end I'm just eagerly awaiting the next.Volume 7 comes out in September.

this series is getting better and better with each volume. if only we didnt have to wait this long.

This continues to be brilliant in its story, characterisation, world-building and art. The only trouble is that its complexity and the inevitable year or so between volumes, coupled with my poor memory, means that I struggle to keep track of what's going on and who all the characters are from one volume to the next.
