Love this book
This book was a gift for my mother and she has a hard time reading fine print but this book is filled with tons of beautiful and colorful pictures and the captions and writing is not a problem for her to see. Very happy with this purchase!

Beautiful resplendent book
Wow! I love this book! My greatest interest in French culture is the 18th century. The text gives a very broad survey of Marie Antoinette's behavior and the world of the French court in which she lived. The font size is large enough for easier reading. When I received it, I read the entire book in one evening. The oil paintings, pastels and engravings are presented in vivid clarity. The plates of decorative items and furniture are richly photographed and enhanced to see the intricate detail.I have read several books on my favorite French era; however, this book expanded my knowledge about certain decorative items. The section entitled "Needlework" shows even how beautiful everyday objects were used and how sewing was included in the education of 18th century female aristocrats. The "Bath Time" section shows Sèvres porcelain items and the text describes each individual purpose. For those readers who have an interest in the world of Marie Antoinette, I recommend this book as an excellent introduction.Francophiles who would like to add to their collection about the 18th century court, I strongly sense you will enjoy this exceptionally lovely book as well.

Absolutely beautiful book, full of photos and graphics
I love reading about 18th century France, Marie Antoinette, Versailles, and the French Revolution. So I own a lot of books on this turbulent yet opulent era. This biography of Marie Antoinette is amazing and one of my favorite books (along with the books A Day with Marie Antoinette and A Day at Versailles). This book (coffee table book size) is filled, every page, with glorious photos of artwork, architecture, interior decor, fashions, jewelry, silver, upholstery, bed linens, carriages, toilette sets, porcelain dinner services, candelabra, statuary, furniture, snuff boxes, tea sets, and hairstyles of the opulent, beautiful world of Marie Antoinette and 18th century courtiers. The text gives a well written, informative biography of Marie's life, but it's the outstanding illustrations and photos that really set this book apart from other, more 'text driven' biographies of Marie. Literally every page of the book has full color photos and pictures. Absolutely stunning book. If you are interested in the Versailles era and the world of Marie Antoinette, you will love this book.

Wonderful and Thorough
Lovely book with gorgeous illustrations and photographs. I have been interested in Marie Antoinette since I first saw the Sofia Coppola movie back in middle school, and after reading Queen of Fashion and The Journey, I really wanted an illustrated guide to Marie Antoinette’s world, so I could feel more connected to what I was reading. This book has that and more: portraits of Marie as a young Archduchess, then a Dauphine, and Queen; as well as what I found most interesting, photographs of Versailles and Marie Antoinette’s personal chambers and toilette, as well as recreations of her clothing and personal items. Really beautiful edition that anyone interested in the life and times of the last queen of France will treasure.

Great book about great things
Despite a few historical blunders and cruel spelling mistakes, this book does what it was supposed to do-it shows things from the time. Usual biographies lack time and space for analyzing the things that surrounded people of the time, I only wish this book could focus on more things because it does that so well.

Beautiful Homage to France's Most Elegant Queen
Beautiful book! This sumptuously illustrated book does a fantastic job detailing M-A's life. More than just gorgeous photos, this book's text is very readable and presents an excellent narrative of the late Queen's high and low points with plenty of salacious Versailles tidbits mixed in. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who appreciates the charm and elegance of 18th century French culture.

So happy that I bought a second one a week later
Lovely to look at and a thorough history. A coffee table book that is more than (literally) a pretty face. I am a Francophile, and this is a delightful book. I saw it in a Paris bookstore (marked half off) and was thrilled when I found it on Amazon in English.

Me encantó <3

I enjoyed the book
I enjoyed the book; it was a quick read, in less than 24 hours. It's not an in depth book obviously but it's great to be able to visualize where certain events occurred while reading about them. Well done and terrific photos.
