"Mountain Particles" is an original acrylic painting on canvas by Karen Williams-Brusubardis. The Print Reproduction for sale is an archival chromogenic photographic print (C-print) on lustre Kodak Archival Paper. Print size is 11"x14" with a 1/4" white border. My paintings and drawings are reflections of my mind's journey through places where the remembered and the imagined intersect. My imagination influences my memories. What I choose to take with me from my past is altered over time by what I believe myself to be and what I want to become. Through these ruminations of memorialized places, I find new worlds moving through a cyclical transformation from birth to death and rebirth all over again. I categorize these places into their corresponding labels of Rebirth, Rebuild, Rebel and Recluse, believing these to be the four corners of my mind that cycle around over and over again. The "Particle Landscape" series emerged out of the Rebirth and Rebuild stage of my process. From its lightest particles to its most dense, from its most ordered to its most chaotic, the 'memorialized places' are built up from simplified shapes of bursting color. Layered to imply density, movement and space, the particles take on a collective wholeness while each maintains its own individuality. The repetitive painting of tiny shapes growing together into larger forms is reminiscent of how life transforms through the interaction of particles, cells replicating themselves and fundamental particles combining to form a living environment.
