TABOR TOOLS GG12 Anvil Lopper with Compound Action, Chops Thick Branches with Ease, Tree Trimmer, Branch Cuttter with 2 Inch Clean Cut Capacity, 30 Inch. I purchased these to replace Corona FL 3470 Compound Action Bypass Lopper with Extendable Handles, 1-1/2" Cut, 21" to 33" Length which are the worst pair of loppers I have used. I needed a good pair of loppers that could handle a LOT of use and finally, after comparing many different types and brands I settled on TABOR TOOLS GG12A Anvil Lopper. The product title says GG12 but the Item model number and the tool says GG12A. Once these arrived I went to find some work for the loppers and they surprised me. I had been using my neighbor's Corona FL 3470 loppers(I take care of their landscaping too) and I now know what I've been missing. The handles are nice and comfortable. I read a review stating the grips were "rock hard" but they're not. They aren't cushy foam grips that will deteriorate over time either(Looking at you Corona). The handles are sorta long so this isn't good for close quarter trimming. At the same time the amount of space needed to fully open the loppers is less than some others I've used. The business end has a little hook on the tip that looks like it prevents the blades from rejecting a slippery fat limb. It's the little things that show TABOR TOOLS puts thought into their products. For those who might be wondering the difference between bypass and anvil loppers it's pretty simple. The bypass blades bypass each other and cut the same way a pair of scissors does. An anvil lopper has 1 blade and an "anvil" and cuts similar to a chef's knife on a cutting board. They were well greased at the factory so keeping them greased is my responsibility. But how do they cut? Does it really cut like a knife through butter? Close but no. The old loppers I was using needs a LOT of help from whoever is operating them. Usually it's the tool that is supposed to allow you to work smarter and not harder. These new Tabor Tools loppers do the work for me like they're supposed to. There is a certain width that I don't even try with the Corona loppers. I was applying the same thinking with these loppers but Coronoa's 3470 1 1/2" and Tabor's 2" GG12A are very different. Hmmmm. WOW. I looked at the fat 2" limb with doubt and got a good bite and firmly pressed the handles together. The limb was easily cut and with the thinner branches the GG12A actually chuckles with the light work and cuts closer to a hot knife through warm butter. The old Corona would shred thin and green branches necessitating traditional pruning shears. Now I can use 1 tool instead of two. Do I recommend TABOR TOOLS GG12 Anvil Lopper with Compound Action, Chops Thick Branches with Ease, Tree Trimmer, Branch Cuttter with 2 Inch Clean Cut Capacity, 30 Inch.? Yes I do.

I bought these along with the 32 inch Fiskars, and I love both of these loppers. The fiskars is slightly better for the 2 inch trees, but this one is just as good, and easier for everything smaller. These are built rugged like a tank, and my wife likes the handling of these a little bit better and easier than the slightly larger fiskars. If your clearing a lot of small trees and saplings, these are a must! Worth every penny, highly recommend. I’ve cut about 500 trees so far, keep them sprayed with silicone, and the cut through large branches like butter. You won’t be sorry, and these probably will last 20 years if you take care of them. Replacement blades available, but the one I have has not dulled a bit. Do it! Save time, effort and your back wielding a chain saw way less.

Cuts through thick branches like butter

This is an awesome anvil lopper! I have been clearing a field where hundreds of jack pine trees have popped up over the past 10 years. I want to keep it a field not a forest. This lopper proved to be the best tool to make that happen along with a Makita battery powered hand pruner for larger trees that this lopper can't get a bite into. I've been cutting the trees off at the base right at ground level. I've cut over 1,600 trees so far. If the jaws of this lopper can grab the trunk, then I can cut it down. The larger trees take a few bites but the tree comes down quickly. No stumps to trip over. The blade is still very sharp. The handle is strong enough to handle the big cuts with no issue. I would definitely buy another if this wears out. I keep the hinge points lubricated to help with friction wear. No need to look further for a great operating and lasting lopper.

***UPDATE*** after, 19 days the lopper is still going strong! Recently, I used it to remove limbs from a cedar tree and cut down other small saplings (Pine Tree, Sweet Gum). ******** I purchased the anvil lopper to help with trimming and pruning. My yard has a mixture of dead and live trees as well as some dead branches. I did a quick test run to clear a small walking path. I was able to quickly cut vines, and trim small Crape Myrtles and lower hanging limbs. Score Card, (as of 10/10/24): Pruning and Cutting Ability: 10/10 It quickly trimmed 1-2” limbs and smaller diameter trees Also, the looper cut a thicker branch pretty well. Handleability: 8/10 (based on 5-10 minutes of use) The lopper remained closed as I walked to different areas. Also, for a woman (I’m 5’4, active lifestyle), it was not exhausting to hold nor carry. It did take a little adjusting, but the grips help with positioning. It reaches well, so I can avoid stepping in areas with thicker brush or vines. I would definitely recommend adding to the toolset, and it’s reasonably price for the amount of load it can handle.

I had little difficulty cutting thru some thick branches, altho the tool is a little heavy. I got used to it, even bending over and leaning out with it. It cut very easily and quickly where other tools had failed. The good and bad aspects of this tool is what they call "compound action". It's a weird ratcheting thing below the cutter parts. The good news is that it makes cutting easier with a whole lot less gripping on the ends. Really worthwhile! Fast. Less work. But the bad aspect is that the cutter part is 4" across when the tool is closed. So, if you're cutting an almost 2" branch it consumes 6" of space. My twisted rosemary branches are very close together, overlapping, etc and trying to get this tool inside was close to impossible. But I was determined. So I lassoed the branch I wanted and pulled it toward me, and between the open jaws of the tool leaning against my leg. I wish I had a video of this. It mostly worked, but I couldn't get high enough into the branch to cut. I will have to be more creative. Maybe temporarily tape back the other branches? Anyway, I like this tool and can't wait to use it in very late fall to trim the few dead birch branches.

J'ignore qui a fait quoi (conception, travail de forge, montage), mais je suis prêt a acheter d'autres outils de la firme Tabor Tools, tant celui'ci me donne satisfaction, alors que les précédents (d'une autre marque) se sont disloqués ou que les lames se sont cassées. Je suis donc pleinement satisfait.
