Bottom vs Top
Our floating pool thermometer is 2-3 degrees off being on top and usually floats into sunlight. This bottom thermo gives a more accurate reading of what to expect when I cannonball into the pool. The long lanyard that came with it makes it easy to retrieve too. It did arrive a little late as the train it was shipped on derailed in New Mexico!

Good for a single season only
Had a lot of hope for this unit. This product is submerged 100% of the time in a well-balanced, well-maintained "salt system" pool.Pro:+Heavy so it will sink and allow me to measure at any depth+Place to add a string so I can hang it+Does not take on water+Seems solid... hasn't cracked or stopped working despite 3 boysCon:-Plastic surfaces are bubbling and outer layer is now gone (2 months old)Bottom line: Not recommended. If no other option, use to spot measure and remove from the pool immediately, rinsing it off so the plastic surfaces stay intact.

Good looking product.
Nicely presented, etc. however after short term use, I found that although it appears to be accurate reading, the encasing itself bubbles, and the thermometer fills with water. Those are the only negatives, and was a bit of a surprise (not the filling with water, but the chrome bubbling.
