AWESOME product, but not perfect.
Awesome large ICE packWas gifted 1 of these by a friend, used them in my cooler, and loved it so much had to get more.PROs:Gets very cold. If you size the packs to drinks well you can actually get the drinks frosty without any additional ice.Fits well in my RTIC 65 cooler, and Pelican 65.Usually mix in ice with it to make the ice last longer.Been able to make an entire 6 day camping trip without having to get additional ice.If you use only the freezer packs, then food can stay dry.CONs:Assembly required. (but helps keep cost down)Due to the foil type material, have a few concerns with the durability. Also due to the material, it is a bit clunky. Meaning, seems that the edges and the heat seal lip are always needing to bend. Have poked myself with them several time unintentionally and it's a nuisance. Seems to me after enough bends it may puncture. B/c of the foil type material it takes damage. Must be careful. Can't be rough with it like your old hard blue freezer packs.I wish they could put them in different packaging for the gel. Not sure why the foil is necessary. Maybe due to the better cold transfer, who knows.I would not recommend them for softpack coolers like the YETI hopper or the RTIC softpak coolers, but would recommend them for high end coolers especially with ice.Great product, but could use a little improvement.

LOVE, LOVE These Mega Cool Gel Packs!!
These ice packs are AWESOME! I purchased these to keep my students' paper bag lunches cold on a recent field trip. I didn't want to use regular ice because it would obviously make the paper bags wet.At 6:00 am, I removed the Mega Cool Gel Packs from the freezer. When I got to the school, I laid one Mega Cool Ice Gel Pack in the bottom of each of the soft-sided cooler bags*. I placed 8 lunch bags on top of the gel pack that was in the bottom of the bag. Then, I placed one ice gel pack in the upright position so that 4 lunch bags were on each side of it. I had a 3rd bag with a Mega Cool Ice Gel Pack in the bottom for all the milk cartoons. At 9:00 pm, when I unpacked everything, the Mega Cool Gel Packs were still frozen solid! These ice gel packs are better than I expected Kept all the food & milk cold for my students. Didn't make a soggy mess out of the lunch bags either. Plus, they fit perfectly in the freezer bags, making everything VERY portable for me.I've since used these Mega Cool Gel Packs when bringing refrigerated and freezer items home from the grocery store & Sam's Club. They are so so portable, fit great in the cooler bags, stay frozen solid all day while I'm at work, and are ready to use when I hit the grocery store after work, which is often not until 6:00pm or so.Can't wait to use them this summer during our deck parties. I plan on putting them under trays of food that need to stay cold (ie: salad fixings, deviled eggs, potato salad, etc.) So, I'm going to need to buy more of them :)________* Note - For clarification on Sam's Club, Cooler Bags (Jumbo Size, Insulated & Leak Proof). These cooler bags are soft-sided with handles that allowed me to carry in a purse-like fashion for major portability! These bags also fold up for easy storage later.PROs:They stay frozen solid for LONG periods of timeVery portableHave found these Mega Cool Gel Packs keep items VERY cold & DRYProduct states that one Mega Cool Gel Pack is equivalent to 4 pounds of ice - BONUS for me because the two gel packs didn't feel like 8 pounds of ice when toting the jumbo bag around all day on my shoulder during the field trip :)CONs:Some assembly is required (note - once you pour the water, the gel IMMEDIATELY activates, so you got to work quickly w/ the iron)Once frozen, they are not flexible - very rigid & hard

Great Value Freezer Packs.
Delivery was prompt. The freezer pack material appears to be tough and should resist normal wear and tear. If slashed with a knife or razor it will cut. Prior to filling with water, I used a finger nail clipper to put a radius on the 4 corners of each bag. I intend to place each freezer pack in a ziplock bag to further protect.Filling the bag was easy, just properly measure 64 oz. of water. Do this in the kitchen sink. The gelling occurred almost immediately. Gel will be in the bottom of the bag. Squeeze air out and then close the HD ziplock seal. Heat sealing the open end was easy with a hot iron. I would recommend a simple practice run on the ironing board or table with a towel on it to get the 3 second heat sealing pass rehearsed. Simple and worked well. I used a paper towel to wipe the heat sealed area PRIOR to sealing. The gel material having a freezing/melting point of -2 degrees should produce a colder cooler than regular ice. The gel packs also make for a dryer cooler with little chance of "soaked" food.

A Great Product
These Gel Packs are amazing, I am so happy I discovered them. We had an outdoor event, and I used them underneath my food platters. They kept food cold for as long as it was out. When large meat and cheese platters first arrived, I had no room in the fridge. We kept them on the kitchen counter with one pack on top, and one underneath and it kept everything cold until ready to serve. When we cleared off the buffet table, I was able to keep food on the counter, using the gel packs, rather than repackage for the fridge. I waited until guests left to put everything away. Everything stayed very cold. I also put them in a soft cooler and they stayed cold for 2 days. These packs are a lifesaver and will be used on every trip as they solve all my traveling issues with food! It was a bit of an investment to purchase several, but well worth price. We have another event planned for next month, and my problems are solved. I highly recommend them. One suggestion tho: Even though we left these packs on the counter for several minutes after filling, they expanded much more when frozen. I did not take the size into consideration, and when we opened our freezer drawer, they had expanded so large, we could not get them out. One was slightly damaged and leaked after thawing out. Make sure you leave plenty of room for freezing them to prevent damage.
