The Hammer

Love this CD! One of the best by Andy Narell. Great storytelling on the eponymous tune "The Hammer." CD arrived well packaged and in "near mint" condition along w/jewel case and booklet. Accurately described by Seller and highly recommend this business.

I was quite happy that this was again available. I hadn't heard this in years. good stuff! real good stuff! Try cut #3 if you get a chance. these guys do the work! I love the energy! I love the music.

I had this CD in cassette form and did not replace with CD when I could have. I is hard to find but happily I found it here. Andy Narell is unique. His instrument is the steel drum and he combines that happy sound with a latin infused jazz that is cheerful and uplifting. This CD is noteworthy for the title song "The Hammer" written and sung by the awesome David Rudder from Trinidad. This cannot be heard keeping still. It would be a great public service for Amazon to have it available as an mp3 download. We often crave for something new but don't know how to find it. Here is one CD definately worth a hear. Stills sounds great as the first time I heard it back in the early 90's.

I had this cd when it first came out, however it was in cassette. I lost it a few years ago--more to the point it was stolen. I tried looking for it thru normal channels, music stores. All I was able to find out that it was out of print. Basically, I stopped looking for it until I tried the internet and "Bingo". This cd is one of my favorites, and beleive me a have a fairly extensive collection, mostly from the 80's and 90's.

Happy and energetic. Can't make a road trip without it !!! This is my first Andy Narell purchase and look forward to many more.

Not what I expected!

Great Steel Pan music with a Jazz band.

The CD case was incredibly dirty, I barely wanted to touch it, but I wiped it down carefully. The item contained within the case was *not* 'Hammer' but 'Slow Motion' which, although it ended up being a good album, was not what I wanted.As I believe this is the only seller with this item, and I don't want to buy another mislabelled album, I am now reticent to buy again. On the hunt to find this album quickly.

Andy Narell is quite possibly the very best steel pan player ever. He is also a most gifted composer and his melodies at least to my ears are just a pure joy.

タイトル的に現代では難しくなってしまったのかもしれませんが、5曲目の「Brontosaurus Ballet」が中でも特に素晴らしい！私はこの曲に某有名ラジオ局の長寿番組（もう終わってしまいましたが）で始めて出会ったのですが、次の日には輸入レコードショップに買いに行くほど入れ込んでしまいました（当時はレコードでしたので、録音レベルの関係で針飛びをしまくるというデメリットがありましたが、作品の素晴らしさにはその程度の不便は影響はありませんでした）スティール･ドラムというとどうしても夏のイメージがありますが、この人の曲はオールシーズンで行けます。他のアルバムも素晴らしいですが、このアルバムを聞いたことがない人は、ぜひ一度聞いてみてください。（ただしCD化にあたって音の再生レベルを多少下げたかなにかしたらしく、多少再生時の音量は小さいです）
