It is the year A.D. 2307. Fossil fuels on Earth have been depleted entirely, with mankind turning to the next available power source: solar energy. During this time, 3 orbital elevators with solar power generation systems are built, each under control by the Union of Solar Energy and Free Nations (formerly United States of America), the Human Reform League (Russia, China and India) and the Advanced European Union. However, not all countries are able to enjoy the benefits of this system, leading to widespread resentment and war. Arising out of the conflict, a mysterious military organization known as Celestial Being appears, dedicated to end all warfare using Mobile Suits called Gundam. This begins the stories of Gundam Meisters (pilots) Setsuna F. Seiei, Lockon Stratos, Allelujah Haptism and Tiera Erde as they are thrown into conflict between the 3 superpowers and the various other factions.

"Gundam Wing" done right.
Gundam 00 is the most original Gundam series we've had since Turn A, and the best non-Tomino series since Gundam X. These two things, by themselves, do not guarantee quality nor greatness, but thankfully 00 manages to succeed in both respects. 00 season 1 is a breath of fresh air for any Gundam fan out there who just wants to enjoy their giant robot drama without the same trite and uninspired Universal Century clichés that have long plagued the AU Gundam franchise. (Gundam SEED I am looking right at you!) It’s fun, it’s engaging, it’s also the first Gundam in HD so the animation is very nice, none of the characters are annoying and the comic relief is played just right. It’s really what Gundam Wing should have been, instead of that badly written mess with a truckload of UC rehashes we got. Although sure, the ending is indeed very Tomino-esque, it’s great and very fitting with the series’ tone.

I love Gundam 00!
I remember me and my brother first saw this anime on tv when it was airing on the Sci-Fi channel back in either 2007 or 2008. My brother and I loved watching it (we are gundam fans!). Then years later in 2012 Bandai Entertainment was shutting down so they had this sale on all of their dvds. I got this (the complete season 1) for around 29 bucks! It came in really fast and it has both the dub and the sub. The quality is amazing. The only issue I had with the dvd was that I didn't like how the disks were kinda crammed together. I have some complete anime dvds and the disks were separate. Whenever I took out one of the dvds, I was scared that I might break it (I haven't broken them and made sure that I was very careful) Other than that this is great! I recommend!

Good storyline and animation.
Always been a Gundam fan,so if you are one, definitely buy this series and it being at a good price is a plus. the reason why i gave it 4 stars is because of the packaging/case, the discs overlap with eachother which means you have to take a disc out of the way to get ahold of the next one and if you're not careful removing the discs you may hit the center piece holding additional discs. I will probably buy both seasons again but in their own separate cases.

Extremely solid story and incorporates all elements in a film.
You get a mix of action, drama, suspense, etc. If you've seen the anime, there's nothing I can think of that would surprise you. Keep an eye on the price, I purchased this when it lowered from the $100s down to about $44. The only complaint that I have is that the menu screen is a little hard to see because of the aqua background with white wording.

Watch out for bootlegs!
The show itself is good, but TONS of bootlegs are out there. They have the same cover case as the original with same number of DVDs . It's pretty much copy of Bandai's release, and it looks exactly the same. I got both 1st and 2nd season of this. The 2nd season was damaged, so I got another shipment free of charge. However, every single set was a bootleg (1st season x 1, 2nd season x 2).Only way to distinguish original from bootlegs are to look in the files of the DVD with a PC program like IfoEdit. Real ones will have Region 1 only while bootlegs will have Region 0 (all Regions). All DVDs should be on DVD9 (DVD file should be over 4.7GB) while bootlegs will be on DVD5 (under 4.7GB). Finally, Bandai stopped producing new releases on Feb. 2012 with their last shipment to retailers being Nov. 30 2012. So if you look in the DVD (check each DVD) and see any files later than Nov 30, 2012, it's a bootleg. If you find any of the above, contact the seller and immediately get a refund. I hope that helps people from getting ripped off.

Great series but only 9 episodes!
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 is an exciting mecha series that is both fun to watch and cerebral in nature. Its very easy to watch and you'll find yourself engaged in it after the first episode. The only downside is that they split season one into 9 episodes per disc. That means they got me hooked and now I'm just waiting around for the next installments to be released. I'm quite fond of the full season box sets for this reason.

Good show, but Bandai DVDs suck.
Like so many other 'Anime Legends' collections, the DVDs are highly problematic. Certain episodes, or parts of episodes simply will not play in some DVD players. Hell, in order to make it through disc 1 I had to shuffle between my old PS2, my PS3, and my laptop so everything would play. It's ridiculous. That said, the show itself is good, I especially liked the more mature characters, which is always a welcome thing in anime.
