Great brake system for towed vehicles
Very nice brake system! Best way to comply with laws on my towed Jeep Wrangler. Works great and easy to install!

As advertised. It allows me to comply with the law.It is strictly an on/off device. In other words, it is for emergency stops.

I had to fix it before I could use it!
I plugged this unit in and it would not stop pumping! I could hear air escaping inside the unit. We were leaving the next day and I did not have time to return it. I had to open the unit and found that the air line going to the gauge was not fully plugged in and I also found that when it was assembled, one of the screws was pinching a wire inside! I plugged in the air line and repaired the smashed/cut wire and now the unit is working properly.Poor quality control Hopkins.

We recently purchased this to tow our jeep behind our motorhome and it worked great! The set-up was easy and used it driving the Smoky Mountains. There were a few instances where we had to apply the brakes immediately on the RV and could feel the brake buddy braking the jeep. Great purchase!

Quality control is not a priority at Brake Buddy
I have used an early version of Brake Buddy for nearly 20 years. I was looking forward to using the new select 3 version with its many up-dated features. I wired and installed the new unit and was surprised when the brand new unit ran and ran and ran. The compressor kept running, After 5-6 min. the compressor shut off for 5 secs, and then continued to run. The remote had a message that said "check Brake Buddy". I disconnected the unit and called Brake Buddy technical assistance. Their only suggestion was to take the unit to Camping World for repair. The nearest Camping World to me is 110 miles away, one way. They cautioned me not to attempt a repair on my own as it would void their warranty. They also said I could send it in for repair and that process would take several weeks.I have a RV trip planned with pre-paid reservations, next week. Neither solution is acceptable. A product that costs over $1,000 dollars should be tested before shipment. There is no excuse for receiving a new, unopened product that does not work. Very disappointing quality control.

Great braking system
Very good auxiliary braking system for a towed vehicle. I really don't notice it, but when I brake my wife will note the red brake indicators on the radio indicator plugged into the motor home dashboard (that's included in this system). One thing, though, that's not really part of this system but should be noted. I'd also bought a drive / tow switch to turn off a CRV fuse when towing, as recommended in the CRV owner's manual. That fuse controls the radio and 12-V outlets. That would be good and help the towed's battery. However, the BrakeBuddy must be plugged in to the 12 V outlet, so that switch can never be used.
