Modern Crochet Sweaters: 20 Chic Designs for Everyday Wear

Beautiful, easy to follow and fun!
I’m absolutely loving this book! So far I’ve finished one cardigan, I’m working on my second sweater and I’m already planning my third. Crochet, y’all - it’s an addiction. Some notes:Pro: the descriptions are fully formed and well explained, even for a beginner crocheter like me.Con: it would be very helpful to have more photos of the fronts and backs of items - the Silent Night Cardigan is a great example. The construction is a bit odd at first, but clearer photos could’ve helped!Pro: all the yarns used are reasonably priced and easily accessible, which I love. That said, she recommends other options on a few projects, in case you don’t want to use her specified yarn! Super helpful.Pro: the SIZING! Y’all, it is so nice to be plus size and not have to worry about a book that stops at L/XL. I’m a solid size 18 - vaguely in the 1X/2X world - and her sizing has been SPOT ON. I’m constantly having to change and adjust sewing patterns, crochet patterns and knit patterns, because people don’t go about a size 14/XL. This book does a great job of listing sizes, measurements, give suggestions (aka “this is meant to be looser”), size suggestions (aka “if you’re taller/shorter, you can add/subtract rows here to make it fit”) and goes up to a 4X/5X! Thank you for doing that, it means a lot to those of us who get forgotten sometimes!!!My final note: I will be making almost every single project from this book. I’m not joking, there are only 2 that I’m so-so on, and even then? I’ll probably make them with an adjustment or two. I work for a yarn company and regularly get boxes of test yarn - now I finally have patterns I’m excited about trying! Can’t tell you how worth it this book is, it was worth every pre-order penny!(Also, she has a ravelry account and it has all of these patterns listed individually - this book is WAY cheaper than buying just 2-3 patterns. It ended up being a great resource for photos though, in case you’re visual like me and need more references!)

Beautiful and easy to follow
I bought both the Kindle ebook and physical copy. Both are easy to read and follow. The ebook is missing some of the fancy fonts and colors from the book, but it's an ebook. You can't expect it to look exactly like the physical book. Other than that, the patterns are easy to follow. Janine has plenty of photos in her book as a guide and she does a thorough job explaining things, so even a beginner can easily follow along. I also love that she included other types of budget-friendly yarn for each of her patterns so that we don't have to use the same exact yarn. She does also mention for readers to be cognizant of the chosen fiber of choice if it's different from the one she used because it can look and feel different once you start creating the garment. Overall, I think the layout of the instructions for each garment is easy on the eyes, which makes it that much easier to follow. The style for each piece really is something that I would love to have in my closet, and the patterns allow for a lot of customizations. If you're looking for modern, chic, and modest crochet patterns that can become staples for your closet, definitely check this book out. If I could make clones of myself to crochet each pattern all at the same time, I would!

Slow Fashion at it's best!
This is the crochet book I have always been looking for. Janine's patterns are genius. She walks you through each step of the pattern in an understandable way and helps you succeed at making a fabulous sweater that not only fits, but is beautiful. She shares insights such as the reasons she chose the particular yarn listed in the pattern and options to change things up if you would like to have something that is maybe lighter, or longer, or more fitted than the sample. So far, I have made two of the patterns in this book, but I have yarn and accessories (such a buttons) for almost all of the patterns. In fact, I have yarn for multiples of several of them. The only thing I thought was missing was a suggestion for adding something like buttons holes, or a hood to make the patterns even more customizable. But to be honest, I haven't finished reading the whole book yet, so I may find instructions for these options yet! You will not be disappointed with this purchase. All the patterns are amazing and you will feel like a million dollars when you wear something you have made from this book.

Modern, well-made sweaters, even for 1st time sweater projects
I have really enjoyed this book. I would say I am an intermediate crocheter, but had never worked on any clothing items before. The instructions are very thorough and descriptive, and easy to follow for a beginner like me. I appreciate that the book explains what you are working towards as you go through the pattern - there is plenty of context to help you along and explain the “why” behind each pattern step. The patterns are also great - they really are modern, wearable sweaters like the title says. I finished my first sweater this week, the Vintage Moon turtleneck, and my friends could not believe how fast I completed it and I got soo many complements. I can’t believe I actually made the sweater myself, it looks so good! I’ve started my next project from another author and it’s making me appreciate this one even more - the descriptions and construction methods in this book are so good. If you are thinking of trying to crochet a sweater for the first time, or just want to round out your pattern collection with modern, wearable, well made basics, definitely go for it and order this book

Buyer Beware
If you are buying this book for the Rosebud sweater, the pattern is not in the book as stated on her site; only the cardigan version is in the book. Deceptive sales tactics are not cool, Janine. I still plan to make several of the sweaters in the book, so I won't return it, but I had purchased it specifically for that one pattern.

Beautiful Designs
I think this book is excellent. The patterns are clear and well designed. I especially like how well the sizing is explained and designed for the different patterns throughout the book. The sweaters are all very beautiful and suit a number of different types of weather and occasion.

The best timeless & size-inclusive patterns!
After months of waiting I finally have my copy! I got the kindle version and despite not having an actual Kindle, I can read the book and see all the gorgeous photos on my computer's and iPad's Kindle app without any trouble. The instructions for every pattern are easy to follow, and I like how the author included customization tips for all the designs to make every sweater truly yours. All the measurements and yarn quantities listed in each pattern come in inches AND centimeters, which is highly appreciated. In addition to the patterns, you get a guide on how to take your measurements to know which size would fit you best, and includes great photo tutorials on how to do the stitches used in every design so even if you are a crochet beginner, you can totally make these sweaters too!

Modern crochet sweaters
This book has some great patterns in a variety of yarn weights. Most of them could be adapted by an experienced crocheter to suit. For example, I would change the sleeves on the cover sweater to be more fitted and some of the necklines are lower than I like. There are ample instructions regarding changing and fitting the patterns so I’m looking forward to making the Maple Grove cardigan to wear this winter.

Perfect book for chrocheters all over the world
Finally is it here!!! I love it! So many nice patterns. I want to make them all but where do I start? I love that the book also gives tips on yarn that is available in Sweden. The book has the measurements in both cm and inch, crochet hook size in mm. I'm so happy that I bought the book!
