A reel review
The following are my thoughts after using for a month. This is the only reel mower I found that looked of quality without spending several thousands of dollars. There are other lower priced units, but you will get what you pay for.The price I paid from Amazon is half of retail and the prices being advertised now, but to be honest I can't see how or why it should be valued at its current price. The price I paid is tops of what I feel it's actually worth.Little taken back that is made in China since Promow is as an American company, it lead me to believe it was made in American with U.S. steel. Time will tell, but usually China steel is a lower grade than U.S.If you plan on connecting all seven reels, I would suggest you have a strong engine with a strong transmission like a small tractor or a 4X4 4 wheeler. I can't see how a hydrostat transmission equipped mower will last long; too much load with three and especially seven reels, even worse if it's hilly.I'm only using three of the seven reels; less stress on my trans/rear gear and I will have the other four as back-ups or will use them once the original three wear out.Strongly suggest coating the reels and bed knife before & after usage with any non petroleum based spray lubricate/penetrating oil to prevent attracting dirt and to prevent it from rusting. It may be that my blades/bed knife is a little tight since I have only used it 5-6 times on a half acre, but the reels will lock up from time to time with a mowing height of 1-1/2 inch on Tifway 419 Bermuda turf. If they lock up while being pulled in the driveway, it will grind the rubber off the wheels since it's locked up. When this happens, I take my foot to kick the reel loose to start rotation again. This reel mower is much healthier for Bermuda than a rotary mower. Rotary beats the turf blade while a reel mower provides a nice cut, which helps prevent leaf disease. While there will be more maintenance with a reel mover over a rotary, you will be impressed by the cut.Only time will tell how long the Promow Gold 7 will last, but for the price I paid was probably worth it because I do like the cut it provides. Is it worth the retail price? No.REVISED FEB. 23, 2014: As it turns out the blade to bedknife was a little too close/tight, so that probably explains why it would lock up from time to time.

Low quality and limited cutting height.
Description says it will mow as low as 5//8 of an inch which is fairly standard for a reel mower. When the item arrived the user's manual indicates it will only mow at a height of 1 1/2 inches to 2 1/2 inches. I tested it on my bermuda grass at the lowest height and found it couldn't get low enough to mow my turf. The reels didn't appear as heavy duty as I was expecting for the price. They looked similar to the cheapest reel mower you can find at Walmart. I don't recommend this product. Anyone who is cutting several acres of grass at any height is going to need something highly durable.

Cut is amazing!!!
Extremely happy with this purchase. It provides a golf course cut and my cutting time has been reduced by half. Would recommend this to anyone who has a lot to cut. I do 7 acres in about 2.5 hours.

exactly what i wanted
easy to put together, high quality even though made in china, adjusts easily for this type of mower. i cut my sons football field and a reel mower is far better then power mower. field looks great, grass is healthier. great product. amazon sold this product at cost basically, they really should raise their prices.
