Here in the Phoenix area most homes have a Reverse Osmosis water filter under the kitchen sink to remove the high amount of dissolved solids in our water which usually measures in a range of 400PPM to 500PPM. IIRC the EPA standard is 50PPM or below. The RO filter lowers the total dissolved solids in our water to 40-70PPM. The device allows us to confirm the workings of our RO filter system so we know when to replace the various filters in the unit. Without a TDS meter we are left to guess how the system is doing or pay someone to come out and measure it for us. The TDS meter pays for itself if you can avoid even one visit by a water service technician.

used on the water from the tap and the water from my water purifier and read the same for both.That does not seem possible, plus when using it in my hot tub the temp reading was not correct asto the tub reading on the digital readout. This is a little disappointing, now wondering if the readingsfor the TDS are accurate or not, and it is extremely important to have the correct readings as mywife has cancer and is working on beating most of it naturally.Did not contact the seller.

The only reason that I gave the meter a four was that I don't have any knowledge about water meters. I followed the directions and it seems to work fine but I don't know if the readings are accurate or not since I have no other way to tell. I assumed they are accurate and have used the results to set my water softener recycle period.

Product is not calibrated and is useless. I sent for a replacement and the 2nd one was even less accurate.

This meter has great intentions, but unfortunately, it fell a bit short. I am unsure if this is an isolated incident or if it is the standard for this device. The case it comes in is great. It's leather, fits well, keeps it protected. The meter itself also is nice. As far as operation, it is fairly easy to operate. The main issue is the measuring and readings.Firstly, I tested it in tap water to get a base reading. This will give me some sort of idea as to where this meter will read without any form of calibration. Next, I tested in my hydroponic solution. . . same reading. Then I tested it in filtered water. . .very similar reading.I tried to test the EC instead, and it just plain didn't make sense to me. Maybe it was user error, but an EC reading of "436" did not make much sense to me. Generally the readings I get from my solution is 1.5-2.0. Again, maybe I'm doing something wrong.I will say the temperature reading was fairly accurate though.In the practice of full disclosure, I did receive this product at a discount in exchange for my honest review.

Happy with this device. I believe it is accurate, providing readings of 80-90 on my SF tap water and 0-3 on RO water.

The temp is not accurate on this thing. It's about 5-6 degrees off
