Camp Chef Single Square Cooking Iron

We took them camping with us the weekend after we recievedthem. They worked great. Good quality/well made. I'm very happy with this purchase. These are 10x better than the aluminum/crappy ones we bought at a big box store. These are heavier (cast iron obviously), & well made. The handles aren't exceptionally long, but I don't know of any others on the market that are longer. They're easy to use and there is a locking S hook that keeps the halves together while its in the fire. Our kiddos had fun making their own personal toasties. We made pizza mountain pies, grilled cheese, & toasted PB&Js. Clean up was a snap. After allowing them to cool, a quick wash with warm soapy water and they're all set for the next meal. They're absolutely perfect.

I admit I agonized too long over which pie iron to get due to such conflicting reviews on so many of the listings...but i am SO happy i go this one!! its perfect. good quality product and its true heavy cast iorn. these made the most perfect cinnamon rolls over the fire place!! i do mean perfect! we just used small squares of cooking parchment paper to keep it from sticking, and they came out easily. JUST GET IT! we also made cookies fireside...cant wait to try other things on the next camping trip! so glad i got this

Irons for in the fire

I'm not sure what type of monstrous bread some of the people are using, but my standard white sandwich bread fits perfectly in this iron. It sealed the edges of the bread and there was very little crust to cut off from the outside. It's the perfect size if you ask me. Any bigger and the bread would not get sealed by the iron around the edges and your filling will ooze or fall out when you pick it up to eat it. I have used several other brands over the years as a moderately experienced camper, both square and round irons (always cast iron never aluminum). This is just as good so far.

We bought these for an upcoming camping trip about a week ago and decided to try them over our fire pit in the back yard before we go. They were so much fun I immediately ordered 2 more of the double square irons so we can get them before our trip. We made cheese pizza pockets and they were super easy and very good. We also purchased the "Pie Iron Recipes Book" for some recipe suggestions but it turns out there were already several great recipes listed on the cardboard packing that came with the pie irons. They are on the small side but if you buy some "smaller" bread it can fit nicely and then crimp the edges shut to hold in the filling. Very good buy and a good price.

It was smaller then I thought it was. But works good for one small sandwich.

This worked great for a camping trip. It heats up really quickly so that I can make a lot of toasty sandwiches in a short amount of time. I like the square shape better than the circular irons I owned before because it fits the size of the bread perfectly with very little waste. It was easy to clean and pack away for next time.

The handles were split a bit but they were cheap, so I wasn’t too upset. I’ve used them twice now. Food turns out perfectly!

Good quality, arrived as described, within time specified. I had a separate issue which the seller was quick to respond and rectify.
