Shifting between the perspectives of Noah (Dominic West), Alison (Ruth Wilson), Helen (Maura Tierney) and Cole (Joshua Jackson), the story now reveals the complex family ties, passionate betrayals and vengeful emotions that have resulted from the illicit summer liaison. And as the two estranged couples try individually to plan for the future, a new series of deceptions will once again force them to question everything they believed.

3.5 incredible seasons
Wonderful series. Incredibly tight writing, gripping story........ until season 4, around episode 6. Many, many sex scenes so you actually start fast-forwarding through them. Then, after that, still tight writing but for the "Days of Our Lives" soap opera. It's still a great series but it should have stopped at season 4.

Found by chance on a flight, had me at Episode 1 Season 1
This is my first review with Amazon and I am writing it because I can't believe The Affair series season 2 has an average of 4 stars. I know some people read reviews to help when making a decision on a purchase and I wanted to contribute back by sharing my rating/comments and supporting what I think should be rated much higher than five stars as a whole series thus far. The storyline of an affair is always intriguing, but the way in which this story is told in the series is just so mind-boggling. It's such a well-written brain teaser. At the start of each character's perspective, you don't really know when the scene is taking place until you use context clues. Not only are you on the edge of your seat to find out what happens next but you have to figure out if what you just watched already happened or will happen later and start piecing it together to make sense of what you just watched. I have never been so enthralled in a series before. I started watching season 1 on a 10 hour flight by chance (never heard of this series before, ever) and after the first episode I was hooked. I really hoped that I could finish the season but I ended halfway through when we landed. I was so engulfed in the story, it was like reading such a good book that I couldn't put down until the last page. So, I purchased the entire first season the next day and watched it in its entirety. I anxiously waited for the second, and it was so worth the wait. This isn't one of those series that you can just watch without the prequel. If you didn't see season 1, you will be lost. But you would realize that once you start watching and you'll want to see season 1 anyway. Bravo to the entire cast and crew on a brilliantly captivating series that has been well worth the time to stumble upon and watch. I'm really looking forward to Season 3.

First season was great, left out politics now seems to add snarky comments...
First season was great, second is not as good. More mention of politics, typical Hollywood writers/actors feel the need to inject their snarky disdain for those who are not in political alignment.

Dear DOMINIC WEST: I CANT SAY I LOVE YOU....BUT I LOVE ME SOME "Noah"...I just love me some Noah....
"NOAH, NOAH, NOAH...." WILL BE IN MY DREAMS...THAT MAN, THAT MAN, THAT MAN...I'm just crazy about him.THAT SCENE with the psychiatrist, whoever wrote that script in the therapist office made this production an American classic film project.THAT VEIN OF THOUGHT IS WAY UP THERE among ''SENSE & SENSIBILITIES'' in a good sort of "seeking" answers way. So mature. So mature.Bravo, BRAVO!This is an excellent product in SEASON 2, just magnificient. The script, the performances were just fantastic and magnificient. There were some "drips" in the script with alignment but by the end all is forgiven because the script Is just downright tight!!!A man with two women he loves very much: women he has children with, and, HE IS THE GREAT FATHER...but he is called uponto make the ultimate sacrifice to save them...through no fault of their own...through no fault of his. It just happened but no jury would believe that.A man who once asked, "Can a man be 'good' and 'great' at the same time?" He ends up being the good and greatest man for his women and his children.. BRAVO!!! BRAVO!!!! (Thank you all for this production.)--MOI JUST LOVE ME SOME NOAH: he was so masculine and sexy while he was so dam stupid and low-life but in such a way thatyou end up forgiving him because he has more than his stupidity to offer. LONG LIVE "NOAH". --MO

Almost Perfect
This was totally great. I was cheated on bigtime by my crappy ex and this really does give a semi-accurate look at the effects of an affair. Basically, everyone's life in a 5 mile radius gets ruined and the people who have the affair never go on to have a good or faithful marriage. It really is like that. It's like an atomic bomb and the collateral damage never ends. But saying that, I did not spend any time watching this being mad at my ex because I was totally engrossed- so that's how good it is. I wasn't even thinking of my own story I was obsessed with binge watching this! The ONLY criticism I would give is that the main character (Noah) is quite ugly. He looks like some sort of a squid. And his hair is totally weird, and his eyes are really wide open like he's just been electrocuted. I find it really unbelievable that anyone would ever cheat on Joshua Jackson for him. Also, Alison and Noah have very weird kissy faces. It's very distracting when they kiss each other and pant really hard because it doesn't look like normal kissing. Squid face just sort of stands there with his eyes popping out of his head and she mops his face with her enormous mouth. I don't think they have very natural chemistry. Joshua Jackson is a great actor and he is basically the best looking male of any species alive now on this planet. This is the best show I've seen in a while.

i like this format, the acting is just ok, but the story keeps me coming back
i like this show...the concept of it is very good. i am so tired of the *oh lets have something catastrophic happen and then in 43 minutes we will solve it* formula. this has some character building and the fact that it takes an entire season before we even know who is dead, is sort of cool. there was a show called *the killing* that did much the same thing...like they trust the audience to stick around to see what happens. the only reason i can't give it 5 stars is because the acting (imo) is not *great*.....and the amount of sex that happens is stupid ridiculous. im no prude...but i find myself rolling my eyes whenever they do a sex scene...they aren't really all that sexy and there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of chemistry between the actors involved. game of thrones is an example of a show that throws in a lot of sex,....and its enjoyable and seems to fit in to the rest of what is going on...i also have a small crush on joshua jackson from his fringe days and so i will usually watch anything he is in....i find him likable.
