Motorcraft - RT1163 Thermostat

Always buy the OEM thermostat. The aftermarkets do not work well and do not last long either. I went through 2 aftermarket Thermostats in 6 months and both were rated as 92 degrees as opposed to the 90 degree OEM spec. Also, even though it was only a 2 degrees difference, it was just enough to damage some hoses that were fine until I installed an aftermarket thermostat. So, the lesson learned here - pay the extra few bucks and you will save yourself some aggravation, time and money.

Did not work for a 2002 Thunderbird, as advertised.

Only use Ford OEM thermostats with Ford/Lincoln cooling systems. Other brands just don't cut the mustard. Save yourself the time, do it right the first time.

This is the oem new old stock thermostat. I've attached some pictures comparing this part to the MotoRad replacement. Buy this thermostat. Do not buy the MotoRad replacement. This is a new OEM thermostat.

As mentioned by another reviewer, the thermostat comes in a ziplock bag within the correct Motorcraft part number packaging. However, my thermostat was obviously used, but used the item in my car anyway. The bigger problem the thermostat was not the correct temperature rating. It cause my car to never reach correct temperature, giving me P0128 Code. Had to remove and buy a thermostat from the dealer, that one works as intended.

This fits an Aston Martin Vantage with the 4.7 engine. Feel free to save yourself $80. It's an exact fit 👍

Same part for my 2007 Aston Martin Vantage, but $120 cheaper WITH a better gasket design. Installation is a pain, but worth it.
