So, as an owner of a Nord Electro 5d, I need another one for...reasons. Anyway, this seemed to be a great "budget" Electro. I've used Yamaha keyboards for years. I actually learn Beethoven's Walstein on a PSR 280 (haha) so Yamaha has a special place in my heart. okay, I'm going to skip a lot of my thoughts here. A lot of my thoughts have to do with things that have already been said a lot. For example, the sound samples are great, the key bed feels great to play on if you enjoy the Yamaha synth beds, and all the functionality on this keyboard is fantastic. But I will highlight a negative. The menu diving. I understand that with this many features, it would be impossible to put all control at your fingertips. However, I do think they could have streamlined things better, or at least offered a version with a large touch-screen or a bigger screen with more information. or hey, even some kind of laptop connectability so you could control the keyboard with your laptop. My point is, the menu system and the display are reminiscent of digital technology from the mid-90s. I feel like I'm hacking a computer 20 years ago whenever I need to change the threshold on a compressor insert effect Etc. That might be sort of nitpicky, but really, it's the only time that I feel like things could have been improved. Other than that, this is a fantastic little keyboard. It can do anything you need. Obviously it does not have the magic of the Nord electro, but that's okay. It's not supposed to.

My old keyboard had a broken key. I was looking for something similar, and portable. This fit the bill at an affordable price. I like that instruments are grouped, however it’s not very easy to use the dial to find your sound. Better at studio work but a challenge for live performances. Caused me to really think through my top live sounds and spend a little extra time configuring patches. Reading all the supporting documentation is a must since the user manual is pretty generic and lacking detail. Overall, a good investment.

I bought this keyboard as a 2nd tier keyboard. I use either my Yamaha MODX7 or Roland VR-730 as my main keys, for electric or acoustic piano and organ sounds, and the 2nd tier for all other sounds. Yamaha excels when it comes to many of the sounds I use, including brass, strings, steel drum, and flute. Of course, this keyboard does much more, but those are my main 2nd tier sounds. It super light weight, and easy to set up and tear down. The interface is easy to navigate, and I am able to switch between sounds easily. It's a shame they don't make this in a 73 or 76 key version - I would have bought it as my main keyboard!

I bought a Motif 6 back when it first came out, and it was awesome. But this isn’t a Motif. And I didn’t expect it to be. The whole exterior is plastic, so touring with it would be a bad idea. However for studio use, it’s awesome. Has beautiful Motif sounds and rhythms. I’m very happy with it. Only downside I’ve found so far is the exterior being plastic, but that makes it much lighter for taking it places yourself...just make sure you buy a bag or case for that. Also, **I wish it came with a USB cable**. I’m waiting for one I just ordered for it. Then I’ll get to use it with my DAW & really see the keyboard’s depth.

This outbeats my Roland Jupiter 50.

I worked with my new synth for 2 days, and this morning I was able to do a whole church service (full Episcopal mass) with it. Our organist was away and I filled in for her. I love that it is lightweight. It fits in the gig bag I bought for my Technics SX-P50, but I had to use some of the bubble wrap that it came with to snug it up in there. Today I ran it off my Peavey amp, but I will purchase an adapter and be able to plug into the church's sound system next time. I have barely explored all its features, but today I used a dozen pre-programmed "Performances" to achieve a variety of sounds, some of which I easily customized. Next I plan to learn how to program and save songs, because the service music ( Gloria, Doxology, Sanctus, Fraction Anthem) doesn't change much and I can reuse them over and over again. I'm also going to use it for cocktail hour stuff when I don't have my trio, and album stuff when I don't have the full band in the studio. Very happy with it because on the 3rd day I had it, it got the job done and the congregation loved it.

Good in a pinch or open mics but kinda expr for its quality

Great Yamaha sounds. Very lightweight keyboard Easy to use. Performance patches can be up to 16 parts

Works better than I imagined. Can plug in my iPad for the joy music piano app and play along. Nice sounds. Of course I’ve got a great speaker for it.

Pas facile à prendre en main et le manuel est fait pour des musiciens déjà familiers. Si je l'avais acheté directement chez le vendeur au Québec, je l'aurais échangé pour un clavier que je connais. Avec un casque d'écoute, il faut un adapteur, le son est faible. Je devrai m'acheter une colonne de son amplifiée et ce sera chez un fournisseur du Québec.
