Not very helpful
This book is a prime example of why very knowledgeable tecks should not write technical guides for products. Author assumes too much knowledge on the part of clients. Book like this should be at the level of 'click the button on top right'. Users don't care about why product works or philosophy of developers. Just a step by step solution to a problem.

An okay book - but is it necessary?
Disclaimer - This comes from an 80 year old person whose use of Facebook is minimal, and whose circle of "friends" is limited to a few close family members. I'm glad I bought the book, simply because it made it easier for me to find the privacy features of Facebook, and to navigate the program a little. But I found that, once I got started, everything was almost intuitive, almost too easy to find and, as Facebook no doubt intends, too easy to "comment" or post things to various places and people.I remain deeply skeptical of Facebook's privacy settings and Facebook's rigid and simplistic way of extracting information for one's "profile" - but that's a problem with Facebook, not this Dummies book. For newbies like me, who have nobody to guide them and who are wary of Facebook even before starting with it, this book has some value - but one of Facebook's great strengths is also its great weakness - it's really easy to use! Most average people will do fine without a book to guide them.

Didn't always correspond to how Facebook actually works
I got this book because Facebook Help is not easy to find and when you do, it's not really helpful. It gives thumbnail answers that are vague and seem to assume that you know what you are doing --- Which you don't --otherwise you wouldn't be using help in the first place. Also, the books how to do things on Facebook don't alwayscorrespond to how specific features actually work. A small example. The author says to do a search, just enter yoursearch terms in the search field at the top in the big blue line that says " search for people. places, and things".When you click in it, you get a drop down menu that gives you choices you may not want and you can't enter what youwant. Facebook is telling you with this menu what they want to let you only search for they want you to.ack to Facebook help. If one of their caned answers doesn't help you, they say give us feedback. Hugh! Good luckwith that. I tried several times and they NEVER respond. I wonder if Facebook has any real human beings behind itor if is an auto pilot run be robots?

Might work...
Just saw this on my dad's Amazon account...I can attest to the fact that he STILL never uses Facebook despite the fact that he ordered this book quite some time ago. However, he has figured out emojis on his iphone - LOL. Baby steps.

it will be PERFECT for you
It was ok. but I expected more. If you have no computer savy whatsoever, it will be PERFECT for you. However, I figured out most of what the book tells...on my own. I have not finished reading it...so maybe when I get to the end I could give it more stars.

Get it..Dummy
It seems like a lot to read through for something that most people learn about as they go, but you will then be an expert and it WILL keep you from making mistakes. I am a Chaplain and I can't have unwanted posts hitting my public page from spam and stuff, for example.

The content is great, The book binding poor.
I found the content, to be very helpful. But the book binding is terrible. after opening the book about three times, pages feel out, I had to scotch tape them back in. I believe this is the only problem with books for dummies, I have had the same problem with other subjects.

This is a solid introduction to what has become a complex subject. I have resisted getting involved with Facebook because I regarded as just another time waster. But the tools it provide and the people it can reach can't really be ignored any more.

Facebook know-how
Great, informative book. Useful when you can't find answers using FB - just that bit more knowledge if struggling to understand how certain things work!

More than adequate, if somewhat verbose.
Yes, even dummies can understand this one. It takes over 300 pages to explain what might have taken less than 100 if written more concisely. Still, it all seems to be there - answered all my outstanding questions.

Essential for Facebook virgins !
Essential aid for the more mature Facebook nwebee. Tried asking my son about this 'making friends' lark - "you've been trying that for 30 years with out succes" was his reply - at least the book doesn't answer back !

Excellent
I was expecting this publication to be excellent and I wasn't disappointed. As was expected - the 'Dummies' series didn't disappoint.
