Dimplex IgniteXL 50" Built-in Linear Electric Fireplace (Model: XLF50), 8530/5118 BTU, 240/120 Volt, 2500/1500 Watt, Black

We did a lot of research before deciding the Dimplex Ignite had a superior flame appearance to all the other brands. Since this is in our living room (and our house is relatively small), we wanted it to be visually exceptional.....and it is!! The heat output is adequate. It keeps our living area warm which was our goal. Just don't expect the kind of radiant heat you'd get from a wood/gas fireplace! The boost setting does improve how quickly the area warms up. We hired a contractor to build the structure to insert the fireplace into (and had it hardwired-highly recommend). It was an easy install for him, but we would have struggled with it! While the Dimplex was more than we had originally planned to spend, it was money well spent!!! We love it!

I wanted the most realistic electric modern option available. Our home didn’t have gas. I didn’t want it to look cheesy. I read all reviews and had contractor install so I could see before they tiled. This was a great fireplace. We also used it a lot in two different rooms and it was perfect to warm up a large space. Has a remote which was easy to use. Different visual modes for high flame or low flame. Warm white is what I always used. Other options if you’re into that. Would recommend

While the final product seems to be as expected, it was a nightmare from the start. We purchased this fireplace to be used in a custom entertainment center being built. The box arrived and was mangled slightly and we could see the parts inside along with all the broken cheap styrofoam. It didn't appear that the unit was damaged so we moved forward with our project and we were not ready to install yet so it sat in garage waiting. When my husband and the contractor finally got it out of the torn up box and unpackaged the rest of the way, the darn framing was bent (you can see it in the first two pictures). Now I guess we could have sent it back if we had a box that could have been used but nope the cheap cardboard box would not have been reusable. My husband spent a good amount of time over the weekend working to straighten it out using heavy duty clamps so they could install it. It helped for the most part and while it looks nice finished, it is aggravating paying this much for a product and then have to bend it back in shape. Packaging needs to be better! Installation was another matter in and of itself...for this price we shouldn't have to take pieces apart to install stuff or put the product together. It wasn't as easy as the instruction book made it out to be. Not sure if we would recommend this product today after all this frustration. Will see how it works when time to turn it on.

We’ve had this fireplace installed for about 2 months now. It’s not a clunky product like a lot of other electric fireplaces (we wanted it completely flush against our wall and that’s exactly what we got), it’s entirely controlled by a remote so our toddler can’t hit a bunch of buttons on the panel, and while not the cheapest out there, is a reasonable deal for how it looks, the settings it comes with, etc. It’s an electric fireplace so of course there’s no real fire in it but it’s kind of wild that a few guests were second guessing themselves on if this thing was emitting real flames. We don’t often run the heat output simply because it’s on a level in our house that doesn’t need it but when we do, its does a fine job. I can’t speak to ease of installation as our contractor put it in.

Ordered and received within one week. The delivery was exceptional with the driver assisting with getting this enormous and heavy unit into the house. Once installed....I'm obsessed! It is exactly what we needed to draw people into an area that was under utilized. Now, because of this beautiful fireplace it's a favorite spot to read, shop online, or simply enjoy the quiet ambiance. We don't use the heater but tested and it does work effectively. Would definitely recommend this brand and this particular unit. No issues as it's only been installed a week or so I can't comment on customer service but hope I don't have to in the future.

**When you have to continually wait a long period of time (45 minutes plus) for a business' Customer Service it tells you that either they make a bad product, or they don't hire enough people to support their business. In this case it's definitely a bad product, and piss poor Customer Service. Would never recommend anyone to buy anything from Dimplex. **They are not in the USA, they have no techs in the USA, and they contract everything out, installing, repairing, etc., to the cheapest installer. We have literally spent hours on hold with Dimplex to just get parts, then more hours with them trying to get their installers to install the parts. Purchased the XLF 50 on 5 Dec 2017, had it installed a week later. Since installation, the electric fireplace has been broken longer than it has worked! Average wait time to get through to Dimplex Customer Service is 45 minutes to an hour+ each time you call. The "flicker" motor went out within the first 2 months. Called Dimplex, spent 40 min on hold for them to spend 5 min on line with me to take my information and send me the part. Part arrives a few days later, then it sits at my home waiting for installer to call. A month later I am calling Dimplex, on hold again for 45 min, for them to tell me they will contact the installer. A couple weeks go by and finally an installer calls to install it the following week. Two months later, same crap, flicker motor goes out. Spend 55 minutes on hold trying to contact Dimplex. Again, 10 min for them to tell me they are sending me the part. Again, 2/3 weeks go contact by any installer. Again, on the phone for 50 minutes waiting for Customer Service. Again, they answer, 5 min later they tell me they will contact the installer. We've had 3 flicker motors installed within a year. When the last flicker motor went out it popped, didn't realize it smoked the control board, heater motor, etc. Again, on hold with Dimplex for over an hour. Again, will send you the part. Part arrived on 21 Jan 2019, it is now 19 February 2019, and have not yet heard from the installer. Called Dimplex today. The recording states "wait time is 15-20 minutes", 50 minutes later I get through. The Customer Service rep, Cheryl, is a waste of oxygen. Tells me she "does not want to hear my "wrath". I ask to speak with supervisor. She puts me on hold for another 5 minutes. Comes back on and starts to tell me about trying to contact the installer. Told her I want to speak with her supervisor, she yells at me "she's not here", I said transfer me to her VM. Left a message, no return calls. WORST! WORST! WORST! No accountability, substandard products, and unprofessional customer service, not logistic plan to support customers when parts are shipped out to be installed. No worth your time or money.

I was skeptical about an electric fireplace but this one is perfect! It looks good, throws off enough heat to warm my space, easy to install. There are cheaper choices out there but I’m very pleased with this one!

At fist i was hesitant to get an electric fireplace, didn’t want something to look cheap. This fireplace exceeded my expectations, it looks soo chic and beautiful. Installation was very easy . And the customer service was superior!! Was contacted directly from owner to confirm my order and contact information, he personally was on top of the tracking for this to be delivered via freight. Very pleased Will buy from this seller again !!
