Southern Grind Spider Monkey Drop Point Folding Knife with Carbon Fiber Handle

I also have a non-Damascus Spider Monkey.They are beautifully made with tight tolerances.Neither knife will flick all the way open (similar to a Chris Reeve small Sebenza or Inkosi) and they use proprietary heads on the pivot screws so I cand try to loosen things a bit.

Guys the quality of this knife is absolutely amazing the best there is for the price in my opinion the action will break in overtime actually very quickly minded in a few days and it drop shot now some I have handled have had a more gentle detent where they are harder to flick open and others have had a perfect detent just know if your detent is weak press downward before you flick it out it helps a lot but everyone I've seen eventually drop shot or you can adjust the pivot to have it drop shot on day one with zero, I promise zero,blade play. This is a great buy and the carbon fiber is out of this world quality in different lights and angles!

I've used this knife nearly daily since I got it five months ago. It is frankly brilliant. There is a break in period in regards to action and lock stick (I had maybe 3 days of lock stick, which is to be expected with a titanium lock face) and the unique pocket clip has a learning curve. The blade shape is great for everything I have thrown at it. The treatment on the s35vn seems very good, no chipping and holds a great edge. The handle is very ergonomic and comfortable. The thing that drew me in initially is the design. It is interesting, something which is missing in the market today. One of my initial reservations was the titanium hardware (I am afflicted with cleanliness OCD, so I need to disassemble and clean my knives every couple months). I did have a body screw head pop off and this was Southern Grind made a customer for life. I emailed requesting a new one on a Friday after hours. I was shocked that I got a reply on a Sunday asking for my address. Three days later I received a bag with all of the hardware for the knife, pivot, standoffs, everything. To say I was shocked at the level of outstanding customer service is an understatement. I love knowing I have a great knife that has a great company standing behind it.

I keep my bad monkey in my "man bag" (purse), and as much as I like that knife, it really doesn't get used much since the spider monkey is always in my pocket. Spyder monkey is easy to sharpen, stays sharp reasonably long, and is a great slicer. I use these knives mostly for food prep, and never cut on plastic board; only wood, for what it's worth. I have a number of other knives, but only one other that I ever use ( in the kitchen at home).

I had been interested in picking up a Southern Grind Spider Monkey for a while. I saw these on sale and I decided it was time to pick one up. I bought the knife without ever handling one, which I very rarely do. However, I’m glad I did. I own several knives from Spyderco, Microtech, Benchmade, Kershaw and Protech. This Southern Grind is as good as any of these other brands. I’d put it on par with a Golden or Taichung Spyderco, which I consider to be very well made knives. the blade centering, edge grind, and fit are all excellent. This is a very comfortable knife to carry and hold. I’ve seen some negative reviews of the pocket clip, but in my limited experience with the knife, the clip has been fine. I’m a bit surprised at how much blade this knife has. It’s the same cutting edge length as my PM2, but in a handle that’s not much larger than a Caly3. In short, this is a very, very good knife.

I didn't like that the box that it came in looked really beat up and old. The corners where faded and the box looked crushed. It's a pretty expensive gift for the sender to not care about the packaging. This is Christmas gift and I'm not happy with the packaging.
