can you recommend a lower end tripod?

Factually, I would not recommend a lower-end tripod. This is a powerful enough telescope that having a cut-rate tripod will negate the money you spend on the scope. If you are on a tight budget get a good moderate, entry-level tripod, like the Orion Sirius EQ-G, which I note is available through Amazon. You can obviously get a much less expensive mount, but the more powerful a telescope, the more sensitive it is to vibration and instability in the mount. I would go with the Atlas, since overkill in the mount is a good idea, but the Sirius can handle that scope unless you put some heavy cameras and a reducer on it like I did. If shelling out another $1,200 is too much for you, then get a less expensive telescope, in the 80mm range, and put it on the $1,200 mount. A good rule is that your mount should be better than your scope, and cost more. If not, then you are wasting your money on the scope and will be unhappy with the result.
