Love the cage, fits perfect and allows me to rig up my fx3

Like the title says, this cage is super important to all of the work I do. It makes rigging up my FX3 so much easier, and I've never run into an issue with it. I love the Nato rail on the side, its fits my side handle perfectly. I also really appreciate that the HDMI clamp is included, its a very delicate part of the camera so having the piece of mind that it wont be ripped out is well worth it. The only gripe I have is i notice that sometimes the screws can come loose after a full day of shooting. Luckily it has a tool that its held in with magnets that makes tightening things up on the fly super easy.

This camera cage fit very well with my FX30. The build quality is topnotch as always. The top Nato rail is very well designed giving space to the multi-shoe functionality of the FX30 Once you put the cage on the camera you would not want to remove it after. It looks good, its functional and it adds weight to your setup that could help eliminate those micro jitters.

I've been using exclusively Smallrig products since 2014, especially when it comes to cages, handles and adapter mounts. Quality with all Smallrig parts is 10/10. the first cage that they offered for the FX3 had for some reason a patina effect which was not my favorite. I almost went for a different brand as I was in a need for a cage however, Smallrig made available the plain black cage which I ended up buying. Quality didn't disappoint. I love the nato rail on top of my FX3 which allows me to mount and unmount my external monitor really quick and efficient. My only complain is that it covers the smart hot shoe adapter which does not allow me to use the audio handle every time I go shooting. In the same time I would never recommend mounting something as heavy as an external monitor + Battery on the audio handle itself because it will damage the port and/or break really quick. I took a look at the Tilta option as well, however Smallrig never disappointed and I'm happy going this route. Totally recommend.

Quality

I've slowly been piecing together my rig and recently decided to get a cage. I did some research and decided this would be the best choice for me. I like that the NATO rail hung over the front a bit and didn't cover the hot shoe mount. I also liked the additional cable clamp for the HDMI port. I discovered that the handle I had previously purchased did not fit on the NATO rail. The rail is just slightly larger than the handle groove. So I had to install the handle's NATO rail on top of the SmallRig NATO rail. This isn't ideal and I wish I had a HawkLock handle. Also I was hoping to use the hot shoe mount for the DJI Mic 2 receiver with adapter (so that I wouldn't need to use a cable), but there isn't enough room to use a handle and the adapter. So while the NATO rail does allow for the hot shoe mount to be exposed, I don't see how you could use a handle and the mount at the same time. The cable clamp isn't that convenient if you plan to frequently assemble/dissemble the rig. I didn't have time to fiddle with it and ended up removing the clamp. I am not currently using it, but I will try to give it a second chance.

Die Kabelklemme schützt zuverlässig vor versehentlichem Herausziehen – für mich ein echter Gamechanger bei Gimbal-Einsätzen. Die eingebaute NATO-Schiene und der Cold Shoe sind superpraktisch für Zubehör wie Mikrofon oder Monitor, und dank der Arca-kompatiblen Grundplatte ist der Wechsel auf ein Stativ oder Rig in Sekunden erledigt. Die Verarbeitung ist – typisch SmallRig – absolut hochwertig. Alles aus Metall, sauber gefräst und präzise angepasst. Wer mit der FX3 oder FX30 ernsthaft arbeiten will, sollte sich dieses Käfigsystem unbedingt ansehen. Für mich eines der besten Zubehörteile, die ich je gekauft habe.

I truly love small rig but this cage is my favourite the hawk lock quick release is amazing, especially for run n gun situations, I even got one for my A7iv and they much perfectly with each other with the other attachments that I have I can use it on both cages because they’re both Hwaklock cages easy to switch and get things done quick. Fits well and the design is prefect for what I’ve been looking for.
