Tawashis in Japan come in many forms. About 30 years ago Eco-Tawashis or Magic Scrubbers became very popular. They are crocheted in beautiful patterns from special abrasive acrylic yarn with deodorizing and anti-bacterial properties. They are eco friendly because they can be used without soap or detergent to scrub glasses, dishes, casseroles and pots. They are safe for non-stick pans. When they are dirty they can simply be well rinsed or washed in soap and water. I gave the first tawashi I crocheted to my husband and he is still raving about it. Our casseroles look like new, our glasses shine. It is indeed a magical kitchen tool. Almost all of the tawashis available in the United States are made from cotton or ordinary arcylic yarn because the traditional Japanese yarn is not sold here. But my tawashis are crocheted with 'Namibuto" yarn I purchased from Japan. Hence my tawashis are more expensive than those made from American yarns but they are definitely worth the price. The eco-tawashis are beautiful to look at, strong and a wonderful, effective and ecologically sound cleaning tool. In Japan the tawashis are crocheted in lovely patterns, I based my rose design on a picture of a Japanese rose tawashi. DO NOT USE THESE SCRUBBERS ON SKIN, the yarn is abrasive. You can buy up to 12 scrubbies with this listing. If you need more let me know. The tawashi are made to order so please allow me a week or two to make them for you. You can chose colors during check out. This listing is for ONE tawashi. Please note: colors will vary from those in the photographs depending on yarn available.
