This is the real deal! Accept no substitutes!
My original Flipper Max became just plain worn out after several years from regular use on the 550-gallon aquarium that is part of my aquaponics system. At first I hesitated to throw down the cash needed for a new one so I bought an inexpensive alternative that frankly was inadequate and ineffective. After a few months of not having a clean tank, I remembered that you almost always get what you pay for and this was no exception. I bought a new Flipper Max and the results were incredible! Since I neglected to properly and thoroughly clean my aquarium for so long, I didn't realize that the patches of green spot algae that built up were not being managed by my Plecostomus because they were too hard and inedible. The new Flipper Max handled it all in record time. Believe me when I say the extra expense of this tool is beyond well worth it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I have been fighting coralline algae on my 220 acrylic saltwater tank for a while. I've had magnetic scrubber pads that take off normal algae but not the coraline stuff, and I've had long-handled scrapers that work but are difficult to fit behind rocks and don't provide a lot of scraping force due to leverage problems and a cross-brace in the tank top opening limiting movement. I've also had magnetic scrapers of other brands that won't work well with the thicker acrylic of a tank this size (3/4").The flipper saved me. I popped the blade on the flipper, dropped it in the tank, and after a few minutes running it along the front of the tank over 90% of the coralline was gone. (The stuff closer to the bottom took a bit more time because I wanted to be careful not to trap sand on the unit and scratch things up, but it came off easily too even with my smaller more careful motions). I honestly don't care about the flipper part and almost never flip it - I'm giving it 5 stars just because it works so well in acrylic scraper mode. (From my little experience - the flipper feature works unless you have too much current where you try to flip - the current can suck it away mid-flip. Turn off strong pumps or flip only in low-current spaces).Highly recommended.

WHY on earth did I wait so long to purchase this?!?
Had heard mixed reviews so waited more than a year to finally take a chance on buying this. It is definitely pricey for a glass cleaner but MAN OH MAN is it worth the money! Poor choices with rock placement left many areas of my tank inaccessible to the old magnetic scraper and scrapers on a stick that I had purchased previously. And my glass is very thick so the magnetic one struggled with all but the lightest of algae coatings. But this BEAST of a magnet (God help you if your fingers get caught between the two pieces!) and sturdy metal scraper end made quick work of stubborn coraline algae and thick green stuff in the previously unreachable corners, easily squeezed between rock and glass, and even got above the water line under my canopy. I've not quite figured out the flip technique, but I can't see any good reason to not just keep using it on the scraper side so it hasn't been an issue. In short, my tank has never been this clean and I HIGHLY recommend this product.
