Mullard EL84, Matched Quad (4 tubes) Review: Huge upgrade over stock tubes for guitar/hifi! - I play guitar and love hifi audio. Let's get that out of the way right now. Once the stock chinese tubes in my Jolida amplifier died, I replaced with these. Came highly recommended based on audiophile reviews of my particular setup - google your own amplifier and see what folks say sounds good! Lower noise floor, way better resolution on the audio and that wonderful warm tube sound. Sounds like Mark Knopfler is right in my living room. No joke, records sound like a live performance. I wish I could go back in time to replace the stock tubes sooner. My biggest issue is that my amplifier now sounds so good that I can't tell when it's too loud - all the harsh sounds at higher volumes are gone!!! May look at replacing the tubes in my Vox AC15 with these, they'd really bring out that classic british tube sound. Review: Stop reading and buy these tubes! - The difference between the mullard el84s and the jj el84/6bq5 is not easily encapsulated in words, I made the change in a recently acquired peavey classic30 that boasted a brand new set of 4 jjel84/ 6bq5's . and to be perfectly honest it sounded passable. But after upgrading the mullards in a previous amp with dynamic results I made the switch. And to put it simply, there is no possible way this little 30 watt demon could sound any better if I hunted down some1960 American tubes!!!!!

The Sound is great
Bought them to replace the Chinese tubes on the Monoprice Pure Tube amp. They made this already great little amp sound even better. Still burning as I am on my first week of listening and they sound already amazing. The improvements was very noticeable

Very good, rich, clear power
These tubes went into guitar amplifiers and improved the sound and output of two vox amplifiers' stock power tubes.

but they sound good in VOX ac30
The tonal difference is not as substantial as the mass hysteria surrounding NOS would suggest, but they sound good in VOX ac30.

Fantastic tubes ! Sound so much better than the JJ's that were in it from the Manufacturer. Going Mullard from now on.

Awesome Tone!
Replaced the Sovtek EL84's in my Carvin Belair with a mathed quad set of these mullards. THEY KICK ASS. The high end is a bit more tamed with a tighter bottom end, and more pronounced beefy midrange. Extremely pleased with the tone.
