Far from the Madding Crowd (Wordsworth Classics) Review: Excellent Book - I rarely write book reviews because the majority of people no longer read and write uninformed opinions. I had a beautiful hard copy version of this famous book by Thomas Hardy. However, I misplaced it and was looking for a suitable paperback edition. This version by Wordsworth Classics, which is not the best publishing house, is nonetheless satisfactory. The print is rather small and the quality of the pages is acceptable, but rather on the thin side. It does actually contains notes referencing the OED (Oxford English Dictionary) which are useful. I would recommend this book to those who actually read and have an appreciation for Thomas Hardy's work. I read his complete collection of novels in high school. Sadly, too many people have no clue about famous authors in English literature. Review: Worth rereading! - I forgot what a wonderful story this is! Originally red in college or high school years, it’s better this time around!

Good Book
I enjoyed the story. A beautiful headstrong young woman. Beautiful smart charming but also flawed. Easy to understand why Oak loved Bathsheba

Beautiful Book!
This book looks the same as in the product listing. Not all books from this publisher have the cover shown on the product page. It may be partially up to luck which cover you get sent, although I am not sure how it works. Great product for the price I paid!

Title: Beautiful Setting, but Pacing Drags
I loved the way Hardy paints the rural Wessex countryside—lush, atmospheric, full of detail. The characters of Gabriel Oak, Bathsheba Everdene, Boldwood, and Troy are compelling, especially Bathsheba with her strengths and contradictions. If you enjoy pastoral settings and complex relationships, there’s a lot to like. However, the language is dense and sometimes overly descriptive. The pacing can feel slow, especially in the middle parts. Some repetition and long passages of setting can make it hard to stay engaged, particularly if you're more used to modern, faster-moving storytelling. It’s a solid classic, but not always easy, and you’ll need patience to appreciate it fully.

Now to see the movie.
What more can I say; you've described it by your words. There is a movie coming out shortly about the book and I will be there to see it and hopefully it will follow the book.

I gave five stars because it's what I asked for: a book I needed to study for English at a cheap price. The novel itself I really didn't enjoy and it was a chore to get through; I would have to isolate myself from all things entertaining in order to force myself to read it. I could literally get distracted by my finger nails it was so incredibly dull. Hardy seems to have the same issues of distraction as he manages to describe everything and anything to do with nature for pages and pages, rather than actually get to the point and tell the story. But I can at least kinda/oughta appreciate the intelligent way in which he can describe things, but he may as well have described the texture of cat food for all I care. Yes, sheep are so fascinating, thank you for the three page reminder. The story only gets interesting when you reach the last 30 pages, but the events are so incredibly ridiculous, and part of the reason I'm using this book for my essay on 'love is a kind of madness', and also because I hate myself. If you want to be driven rather mad in spite of the title, go right ahead and buy this book, you maniac. I'm going to sit right here and stare at squirrels for a while, as my essay slowly shrivels and dies at the pain I have inflicted upon it. God I hate this book.

Wunderschöne Geschichte in Englisch.
