The Journey [Sanna, Francesca] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Journey Review: A heartwarming and emotional tale about (im)migration. - I purchased this book as part of a graduate literature course, which focuses on picture books and children's literature. This is probably one of the most emotionally gripping tales I've ever read in a children's book. While a child might have a bit of difficulty understanding the underlying messages that are being told, the overall message of the struggles that some people in other places of the world experience, is easy to grasp. I'd recommend this book to anyone wanting to introduce their child to themes in the world to make them more aware of the hardships others might experience in their lives. I'd also recommend people of all ages read this book, as the art style is lovely, and the story is compelling. Took me about 5 minutes to get through, short and sweet. If I could wipe my memory of the book, and buy it again, I would. Review: Beautiful book. - This book is a beautifully sad story, written in such a way that children can really connect with it. The illustrations are gorgeous and tell so much about the emotions of the characters. My first grade students really connected with the emotions of the family and how it connects to the immigration issues in our own country.

Get this book !
Raw, real, and emotional. Yes, it’s a sad book but it explains the journey of a refugee family in a beautiful way that is easy to understand. My five yr old understands it’s a sad story yet told me it was her favorite book (for now). Highly recommend.

Filled with emotions and reality.
This is a beautiful story, filled with emotions and hopefulness. This wonderful piece of literature has the ability to tell a sad, horrendous story in a beautiful way. Also, this book can be used to teach small children about subjects that are hard to talk about. The illustrations help tell the story, they narrate the "between the lines" story. It's a great way to peek into the window of a world that is falling apart.

Universally illustrated story of a family fleeing war
A story of war, and escape, and fear, and loss .... and a mother's love, and resiliency. It personalizes all of those news headlines of "migrants" and "refugees," but beautifully illustrated in a universal way. An important story, told beautifully.

Four Stars
Beautiful. Powerful. Important. Tie to units on perspectives, going deeper behind the headlines, or danger of a single story.

A Story for Children from the Headlines
This is a fine and moving work for children. The insight they can gain about the situations in the world that affect children of other nations, other cultures, is valuable in itself. The narrative is very simple, but the illustrations are effective and moving, and provide the sense of context that the short bits of narrative need for emotional impact. My grandchildren (6 and 10) have both responded thoughtfully to it, and I would recommend it, especially to parents or relatives who are willing to sit with their young readers and discuss the concerns aroused by the story in a thoughtful way. We all need to cultivate such empathy.

A beautifully illustrated look at life through the eyes of a child refugee
An honest and heartbreaking journey alongside a refugee and her family. Illustrations are incredible! As the title suggests, you are taken on a journey toward peace and the hope that one day all will be well. Highly recommend introducing young children to the plight of refugee kids through this stunning book!

Beautiful exploration of difficult topic. Was given as a gift and parents said they were happy to have it as a tool to talk to their children about this topic.
