I would not use the bobbins if your machine is designed for plastic. Metal bobbins weigh more and the bobbin case of your machine may be damaged by the extra weight.

My sister has a singer sewing machine from the 50s it needs the round shank. Will these work?

If it has a set screw to hold in place it is fine. I made sure that it works on mine and it is an old flip table system singer and it works on my mother-in-laws older singer.
