OK, but can you get it off by yourself?

Yes, BUT: The straps are not in attached in the front as PC indicated. There are two Velcro adjustments, both in the back. If and only if you are flexible enough and can do it without hurting your shoulder you can slip it on like vest. There's a risk it won't be tight enough on you if put on this way, but I do it. Taking it off is also a challenge. I can just barely shimmy out of it, or use a coat hanger with my good arm to pull it down more quickly in back.
