Sometimes you find a childhood book that looks so like the one you remember,you are actually surprised not to find detailed your name. Alexander was a Weekly Reader order that made me wait for weeks in anticipation. That naughty horse is still a part of me 50 years later.

I was so happy to see this book in print again! I had it when I was in kindergarten. I got it for my daughter. It brought back so many wonderful memories of my mom that I could share with her.

Look I know the dad smokes a pipe. Get over it. This book is wonderful no matter how politically incorrect the father's tobacco habits are. Reading this to you kids will give them ideas on how to talk to you about things in their lives that they afraid to admit to. And those are the very things we parent need to know in order to protect and affirm them.Yes the illustrations are dated but only to you. Your child will think they are funny. They will think the story is funny. And they will be glad you took the time to read it with them. so do it.
