They're composed of potassium aluminosilicate. They can cause minor irritation of the skin, eyes, lungs, etc, mainly due to their dehydrating effect. They are not approved or recommended for human consumption or food/beverage contact.

I believe this is synthetically produced zeolite. It is uniform and clean with trace amounts of piercer. As far as I'm aware the military and some hospitals use zeolite loaded with a form of calcium to prevent excessive bleeding by clotting. I'm no medical expert or scientist but it seems safe. Of course anything in excessive volume can be hazardous to ones health. Hope this helps a little.
