Digitally remastered edition containing two classic jazz funk albums by guitarist Lee Ritenour: Rit and Rit 2. Recorded in 1981 and 1982 respectively, these two albums feature a who's who of modern jazz musicians including Harvey Mason, Tom Scott, Richard Tee, Nathan East, Greg Philinganes, Carlos Vega and Paulinho Da Costa to name but a few. Rit was Lee Ritenour's most successful album peaking at #26 on the Billboard chart, and staying on the chart for a 23 week stay, the album featured the singles 'Mr. Briefcase' and 'Countdown (Captain Fingers)'. Rit 2 made the Top 5 in the jazz charts, and stayed on the Billboard chart for 14 weeks, "Cross My Heart" was the debut single from the album that featured vocals by Eric Tagg, who is also prominent on Rit. These were the only albums Ritenour was to record for Elektra, as he moved to Dave Grusin's GRP label where he picked up a Grammy award for an album he released with Dave Grusin titled Harlequin. Over the years Lee Ritenour has played guitar for many superstars including Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, Barry White, Aretha Franklin, The Four Tops and Carly Simon.

Love the Rit
Love the Rit. Did not have these 2 CDs. A little too much singing for me though I loved "Mr. Briefcase". Would recommend CD. Seller shipped quickly.

I have Rit 2 as an album and I couldn't find it as a cd, so this one came right on time! I've been a fan of Lee Ritenour for a long time.

2 albums pour un vrai bonheur
J'adore ce guitariste et plus je le découvre, plus je l'apprécie: son jeu unique, sa capacité à aborder tous les styles (blues, jazz, pop, world...), son sens de la mélodie ainsi que ses accompagnateurs toujours fidèles et figurant parmi les meilleurs de leur catégorie. Beaucoup de qualités que l'on retrouve ici. 2 albums de 1981 et 1982 sont réunis sur un seul CD, contenant quelques uns de ses tubes: Is it you? par exemple, aurait parfaitement sa place sur les albums de George Duke de cette époque et c'est un vrai compliment! On retrouve la même équipe de musiciens de très haut vol sur ces albums et leur liste est impressionnante: David Foster, Abraham Laboriel, Jeff Porcaro, Don Grusin, Greg Phillinganes ou encore Nathan East et Paulinho Da Costa! Et ça n'est qu'un échantillon! A noter la voix très présente sur les 2 disques d'Eric Tagg, apportant un groove formidable. On passe donc un très bon moment avec Lee et sa bande et sur le dernier morceau instrumental, Malibu, j'ai pensé immédiatement à Pat Metheny quand il évoque les espaces américains (sur son 1er album par exemple). Une pierre de plus dans une carrière absolument fabuleuse depuis maintenant pas mal de décennies!

Die CDs spiegeln herrlich die Zeit Anfang der 80ziger Jahre wieder. Für alle Lee Ritenour Fans unbedingt ein Must have.

懐かしい！
昔、大阪でリトナーのコンサートに行った事を思い出します。春頃だったので、このアルバムのイメージまで私の頭の中では春。久しぶりに聴くと改めてこのアルバムの曲の美しさを再発見しました。特にノーシンパシィが好きです。
