KITS 500K 5 PIECE UTILTY BIT KIT

These are really great - first they go through nail-embedded wood without any trouble (which is really important when running electrical wires in a remodel) and they also attach to a standard 1/4" hex shank, so you can use any number of extensions on them and keep going as long/deep as needed. If you are an electrician or even just occasionally run wires through studs you need this set if you don't already have it!They also seem quite durable, I really ran them hard on the last big project and they are fine - I imagine these will last a long time.

These bits are great and hold up quite well. Be aware the shanks are 3/8" and you will need that size when using extensions.

heavy duty bits work well

These bits work work great on my 18V cordless drill.

I've been using this line of utility bits for several years now and have found that they can handle any job. These bits have various advantages and disadvantages to a standard ship augers. One advantage is the three cutting blades. They allow for extremely fast boring through wall studs. The tool is hardened trough out, allowing it to chew through nails like they weren't even there. Unlike a ship auger, the blades can be sharpened. I use a small diamond wheel on my dremel tool to freshen up the edge about every 6 months. Nothing has been more unwieldy as an 18" ship auger to drill through single studs. Ship augers have a lot of steel making them expensive. I can't afford to have several different length augers in each size. This lenox bit is about 6" long but can use an extension shaft to get plenty of length. The only drawback I have found with this bit as opposed to a ship auger is its inability to evacuate the chips in a deep hole. Once I drill passed 4" the chips remain in the hole and begin to jam behind the bit. If I'm not careful the bit can get wedged in the hole.

Top notch. Nice and ruggedly strong.

I ordered the LENOX INDUSTRIAL TOOLS 14788 PLUMBERS BI-MENTAL UTILITY BIT KIT, 5-PIECE for my husband. Though he is not a plumber or electrician by trade, he does a lot of work around the house. He'll occasionally do side jobs with a friend that requires using a variety of tools.Upon receiving LENOX INDUSTRIAL TOOLS 14788 PLUMBERS BI-MENTAL UTILITY BIT KIT, 5-PIECE, to say that I was surprised at the size of the bits is an understatement. Wow! Maybe it's because I'm not a male, but I had no idea there were drill bits this big. Not to mention heavy. My husband has only used one of the bits on wood thus far. He liked the way it cut through, nice and clean. They seems to be of great quality, and should prove to be useful and efficient for a variety of jobs. The handy case is great for taking on a job, and keeping them together for safe storage.Product Information:* Extreme Durability - High speed steel cutting edges provide long life in tough applications, including nail-embedded wood* Optimized for cordless drilling - smooth, effortless drilling extends battery life* Fast clean cutting - 3 cutting edges enhance chip removal for a fast, clean hole* Resharpenable - Resharpen with LENOX Diamond fileProduct Description:5 PC PLUMBER UTILITY BIT KITFrom the Manufacturer:The Lenox Industrial Tools 14788 Plumbers 5 Piece Bi-Metal Utility Bit Kit features the most common size wood drilling bits for plumbing applications. These are by far the most robust and best quality drill bits I own. In fact, when I first received them I was surprised by their heft and solid feel. I've only used them for basic drilling so far, but have some tougher jobs coming up (rerouting some things in the basement), so I'm looking forward to using them on tougher jobs. These bits grab very well (you'l be surprised if, like me, you've been using older unsharpened bits) and pull through the wood beautifully.I was able use the smaller bits in my 12v Bosch (Lithium) drill, but had to go to a corded drill for the larger bits--I think it just takes a lot more power to drive them safely and effectively. With a corded drill they are fine, but I am shopping for an 18v cordless and that's probably where they'll get most of their use. (I had a wonderful Sears 18v drill that I loved but the batteries finally gave up the ghost and new ones cost $100--more than I paid for the drill.)These bits come in a very solid and handy case and again, I personally have never used such impressive or robust drill bits--I can't imagine there is much you could throw at them that they can't handle. Very impressed with Lenox.

Excellent quality. Very pleasant to use. Bi-metal is a real plus.
