Raise The Roof (Deluxe Edition)

Long awaited second album by Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - convincingly pull it off!!!
Robert Plant and Alison Krauss certainly took their time to follow up debut album - Raising sand - first released in late 2007.It was a phenomenally successful album by the duo,and in December 2021; released the follow up - Raise the roof.this rather long moratorium certainly paid off.continuing with a blend of folk,Bluegrass, country and blues influenced music, the duo are once again on top form, seeing them on joint lead vocals, main vocals by Plant,vice-versa from Krauss and backing vocals by both - throughout the album.a fair and democratic approach by both performers. The Folk music genre is evident on opening track: Quatro (the world drifts in) - an infectious loot-driven,beautiful ballad.rings of Battle of evermore on Led Zepplin's fourth album?Huge influences - The Everly Brothers - have one of their songs covered again on second track: The price of love.Brian Ferry had a go at it in the '70's - so why not our dynamic duo this time round. As with Raising sand - Raise the roof - is once again produced by veteran record producer - T Bone Burnett - who gives the album an overall good feel and excellent sound - and also brings out all the afforementioned musical styles.he also contributes guitars and backing vocals on several tracks I.E. Go your way,High and lonesome and Somebody was watching over me.The standard cd album release contains twelve tracks in total.i own The hard back book style deluxe edition - containing two bonus tracks; My heart would know (Hank Williams' song) - very authentic instruments, replicating the sound of the country music legend.and -You can't rule me (Lucinda Williams - absolutely no relation to Hank as far as I know - co-wrote with Tom Overly).LW also contributes backing vocals on here. And there you have it.taking their time to record a follow up to debut album - definitely paid off as far as I'm concerned. An excellent, varied and eclectic mix of all various highlighted musical styles.Slightly disappointing sales - reaching no 5 on the UK official albums chart on first release, but soon exiting said chart after only eight weeks - to date anyway!Highly recommended all the same.NB: deluxe edition includes eighteen page booklet containg full lyrics - some of which are moving, heartfelt and feel good.other musicians' contributions to album include; Victor Krauss (bass g & mellatron) and Jay Belrose (drums) - and full production and "special thanks" credits.PS: Robert Plant (Led Zepplin and rock legend) - Alison Krauss of Union station and folk/bluegrass (Also legend in her field) - purely for the record 😎🎸🎙😀PPS: as good,if not better than Raising sand 🤫

Enjoyable good music of a high standard but not quite up to that of their first brilliant album

Great Album!
Alison Krauss and Robert Plant still at the top of the tree when it comes to delivery and emotion. Although maybe not as accessible as Raising Sand, It's still a fine album in every respect.

STUNNING - They have done it again!
Why did we have to wait so long? However - it was worth the wait.... but don't make your public wait so long for your next collaboration!A brilliant album displaying the remarkable vocal talents of both artists. It only arrived yesterday, and we have only played it once so far - but just like the first playing of Raising Sand (was it 8 years ago?) - it is apparent that this is an album of great quality, that will be very well received. You will be getting a really beautiful collection of duets from this pair of musical icons.A great selection of songs, all performed to perfection - no surprise there, given the years of experience and well-deserved success of both artistes.Buy it - or regret your bad decision!

Class act
Relaxing music by two outstanding artists. Highly recommended. Delivery was well within time stated. It has the added bonus of having the lyrics included with the CD. This makes the music even more enjoyable.

Fabulous!! Superb duet/lead singing & musicianship following on from 2007's Raising Sand
If you like quality music, chances are you will LOVE this. Superb musicianship all round. Alison Krauss has a lovely clear voice. Usually older singers voices start to get a break in their voice when doing low volume performances, but Robert Plant is amazing. a mellow blend of voice & music. very relaxing. I can imagine some might have a happy trip listening to this! Those of a certain age might appreciate a bit of "Harry Lime" theme vibe guitar too.

Sutil y potente, totalmente recomendable
